Anyone mention how the Pats had the ball for just over 38 minutes?

You know it's a whuppin' when that little nugget goes all but unnoticed.

it was mentioned i think about 25 times on Espn, NBC, The fifth Quarter and on quite a few message boards.

Oh, I was talking about anyone in this particular thread.

I think this is one of the most significant statistics of the game (in fact, of all six games).

Even if a team has somehow managed to cover our offense in the first three quarters, they won't have anything left for the fourth quarter. The Patriots' defense, on the other hand, should be reasonably well-rested.

This is why the Patriots can run off those 6-8 minute drives in the fourth quarter, preventing the other offense from getting onto the field. Yesterday, it came at about the 10 minute mark, when the Patriots got the ball. It was clear at that point that Dallas was finished.

I wonder what the records are for time of possession. I think it's almost as clear a sign of dominance as outscoring your opponent by 20 points a game.

if the other team only has the ball 21 minutes.....they cant possibly score enough to beat us.

as for a well rested D, that point is right on target

Well, with 27 points, that means 2 FG's. One was a shorty, can't remember the other, but turn those into TD's, and that's 35 points, with virtually no TOP effect. So, I think teams CAN score enough in 21 minutes. Not advisable, and somewhat unlikely, but doable.

point taken.....but 1 of their TD's was defensive, whis is the only reason they were in the game at halftime.

i should have premised the argument by saying barring mistakes (bad turnovers, defensive or special team TD's), we wont get beaten. using your math That gives the pokes 28, still not close to our 34+ every week so far.

Since you brought it up, it was nice to see us make 2 defensive stops to force field goals. even though 1 was courtesy the yellow hanky. and god knows why those knuckleheads didnt go for it on 4th down w/10 minutes left. it was obvious their defense was rolling over and brady wasnt going to be stopped when we got the ball back.

Yes, you are right as well. Forgot about that defensive TD! Also, I think they screwed up their play calling on third down. It was 2 down territory, run Barber.
