Re: Were Brady and Ty Warren fined 5,000 and 10,000 ?

As of this article 40% of NFL players don't wear a mouthguard. If the NFL is so concerned about concussions why don't they mandate that players wear a mouthguard?
They should and there's a dentist in MAss..that does just that..but Goodell is too stupid doing memos against cheerleaders and other things to give a damn..

Re: Were Brady and Ty Warren fined 5,000 and 10,000 ?

Its a good thing Goodell doesn't oversee the NCAA. During that Clemson game last week, their field goal kicker didn't even have a chinstrap!

No the shouldn't, I don't want the NFL dictating what equipment has to be worn. They are already a PIA about the uniform. The players should have enough common sense to use mouthgurds without being told by the NFL and if they don't, tough luck.

Dean Wormer(Goodell) would put them on double secret probation!!

You couldn't be more wrong when it comes to safety issues. The NFL as an entity is the employer of the players and all employers are responsible for ensuring their employees are as safe as possible on the job. This is true of any place that you work. If you don't follow safety rules in other jobs do you think your employer will not care? There are obvious liability issues.

It's mind boggling to me that people are complaining about the NFL trying to make sure these guys don't get seriously hurt. Concussions can cause lifelong neurological damage.

I am not sure about chinstraps...and how that REALLY matters in teh scheme of things as far as safety goes..BUT I agree whole heartedly that safety issues MUST be addressed.
But here the NFL has stumbled a great deal...when there ARE things that teams do like the Patriots..and have connections with those that COULD make a difference league wise. For some reason what this dentsit has been doing for years is ignored totally by the NFL idiots. SOlutions are there, but Goodell would rather send memos about cheerleaders etc. WHat about teh two serious injuries in back to back weeks?? I think he should be looking at things like that and NOT the baloney he does now.

Reading that article hints at the likely reason that dentist is being ignored: he's probably the only one in the industry who believes his theory on concussions. Maybe he's right, but in any field of research if your theories are unproven and you buck the current consensus thinking then many people will ignore you.

Re: Were Brady and Ty Warren fined 5,000 and 10,000 ?

This reminds me of the Andy Griffith show episode where Andy takes a vacation and Barney has the whole town jammed into the two cells after a week.

I think it ends up with everybody escaping and Barney locked up.

It would be nice to lock up the commissioner before he suspends every player and coach in the league.

Re: Were Brady and Ty Warren fined 5,000 and 10,000 ?

I could be wrong but I read that the minimum fine is $5,000.00.....

Specious argument , the NFL is not a typical workplace. No way is the NFL legally responsible for the saftey of the players. If that were the case why aren't there thousands of NFL injury cases pending in the court system? The NFL is a dangerous place where the injury rate is pretty close to 100% per year, players know this and understand a few things about their career choice. 1) they will be compensated pretty well 2) They may get seriously hurt. 3) May be retired by the ripe old age of 26. Does this sound like a typical workplace?

The NFL rules currently require only 2 pieces of protective equipment. Helmet and shoulder pads. No mouthguard, No rib pads, No cup, No hip pads, No tailbone pads, No thigh pads, No Kneepads, NO knee braces and No neck collars. Do any injuries occur in the areas that are currently not required to to protected?? Yeah, every game.

I'm a believer in personal choice and I also accept the consequence of my actions. If I smoke I may get cancer and guess what it's not Big Tabocco's fault it's mine. It's the players choice to wear whatever optional protective equipment they want and if and injury occurs because they choose not to wear all the optional equipment available to them it's their fault not the NFL's.

If in the future the NFL is subject to typical workplace saftey rules than the game as we know it will be dead. You will see players in those big sumo outfits with flags for Tacklin' (may be good for the Colt's)

Felger talked to Brady, he was fined 10,000 for having ONE (of two) buckle undone. ONE!

Talking fashion obviously...

Re: Were Brady and Ty Warren fined 5,000 and 10,000 ?

I just noticed that Seahawks QB Hasselback only has one strap on his chin guard. So if it's not mandated that the QB has to wear a double strap, why would they fine him for only buckling one? 10,000 for forgetting to button????? Wow!

Re: Tom Brady fined for not buckling chinstrap

just the league nitpicking the patriots. I see tons of players with unbuckled chinstraps, none of them are fined.

Re: Tom Brady fined for not buckling chinstrap

ya just ******ed...he talked about it with D&C yesterday during his interview

Re: Tom Brady fined for not buckling chinstrap

Wow. I thought this was a joke when I read the title.

Watch the chorus of "CHEATERS" calls open up again...obviously the unbuckled chinstraps provided an unfair competitive advantage.

NFL is doing there part to prevent us from winning it all. One can only hope Roger the fraud has to hand us the Lombardi post superbowl.
