ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski is convinced that New England's Tom Brady will threaten Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning's single-season record of 49 touchdown passes, thanks to the best receiving corps of Brady's seven-season starting career.
Manning was named '04 league MVP after posting an unprecedented 121.1 passer rating. Brady is an early MVP frontrunner with a league-best 16 passing touchdowns and 128.7 passer rating.

"The Patriots are the most complete offense I've seen in a long, long time," Jaworski says. "You look back to the 2004 Colts and what Peyton Manning did. With the weapons he has, Tom Brady can have a year like Manning had that season with the explosiveness of a Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Donte Stallworth."

Nothing new there lol... Just gotta wait n see

i couldn't care less if Tom only throw 10 more tds the rest of the year.

Just win the superbowl, that's all that matters

nobody cares about the stats... at least nobody important

I bet he ends up with 40 or 41. Let's say 40. That means he'll "slow down" and throw 24 more this season. Over the 11 remaining games, that's 2.18 per game which prorates to almost 35 for a whole 16-game schedule...an impressive pace in its own right. Slow down indeed.

Regards,
Chris

why are those two things mutually exclusive? I also hope they win a SB and Tom Brady breaks the record, I don't really understand why a fan of Brady wouldn't want to him to break the record.....yawn, I'm growing tired of these I-think-I'm-on-the-team comments.

What's BRady have, 16 TDs already. Two more 3 TD games and the hype machine is going to turn on, BIG.

The reason Brady won't hit 41 is because the Pats are such a complete offense.

I would put it differently.

Nobody cares about the stats COMPARED TO THE SB.
The SB is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times more important than any stat.
But if we are going to win the SB, having some fantastic stats along the way makes it more fun.

lets see.....16 td's and 2 picks at the 1/4 pole.
extrapolate over a full season =
64 TD's and 8 picks for the season

hmmm......it's highly unlikely to work out that way, but u never know.

this is the 1st season of tom terrifics carreer that he's had the weapons to attack ever inch of rhe defensive backfield. No offense to Mr. branch or givens, solid players who cashed in on brady's timing and precision.

now we actually have two wideouts who can get a step or 2. or 3 clear of the DB's. This simple fact means that this year brady's less than perfect long passes are caught (or dropped by stallworth) whereas in previous years they were defended or picked. gaffney is more effective because he gets less attention. welker fills browns slot role perfectly and gives us more yards after the catch.

maybe the new receivers are why brady's completion % is up more than 10 points over his career avg. can he get to 50 TD's?

unfortunately no. because cassel will be seeing alot of field time in december.

I think you slept through a game. Those numbers are after 5 games, the quarter pole is after 4.
Extrapolation is 'only' 51.2 and 6.4.

By the way, I think it may be a bad sign if Brady breaks the TD record.
BB and Brady are not out for records. 16 of our 20 offensive TDs have been passes. If that continues, its a sign the running game in the red zone is an issue.
I would say, in a perfect world, if we continue to average 4 offensive TDs a game, currently 16 passing and 4 rushing ( a pace of 51 and 13) will turn into more like 40 and 24.

With the Steelers and the Ravens on the schedule? Come on. For 5 years, we all loved to see Manning running up his numbers while the Pats chugged along with two 700 yard receivers and and a ton of 16-13 wins.

It will be a much better sign for this team if Maroney can get to double digit touchdowns then Brady getting to 40.

You're absolutely correct. Brady getting 40 tds means nothing.

Now, getting 50.....

more espn hype building machine at work.

If Maroney returns and plays well then i think it will be a more 50-50 attack thus reducing Brady's current numbers in TDs thrown through the air but I think its a no brainer he will outstat his highest yard total in passing.

I think some people here are forgetting the rematch against the JEST, which has the potential to be a beatdown of epic proportions. Honestly, I could see Brady throwing 6 TDs, and then having BB let Cassel throw for a few more out of pure spite. :D

Yup, I think BB is going to lay waste to the Jets college football style.

I personally only care about the SB, but OTOH.....

Seeing how much it would burn Manning's butt to see it happen would be funny. :D

I say he get 43-45

Im rooting for the Sb AND as many records as our boys can break along the way!! 50td's for brady... 23 for Moss... 16-0... bring'em all on!! I have more than enough celebration to go around!!

This has just been an awesome season so far.

That is the main reason I want him to break it.I could care less if he does it or not.Its almost an 80% chance that Brady will be the league's MVP this season.
