From Reiss: Phill Simms on matchup

Of course, New England is a team where winning is important to them, but they also love to battle. I have always said that in athletics always be afraid of the person who loves to battle. They have proven ever since Bill Belichick has been there that they can fight for a long time. A lot of teams have wanted a piece of New England over the years and they enjoy that fight, but somewhere in the second half they end up asking is this fight ever going to end?

Good insight from Simms, I thought...

I hope the place is rockin', but sometimes I wonder if fans at the stadium think they are at the opera or something.

It's going to be a great game! I'll be screaming my head off!

Classic!

I think that we have some of those fans too. Maybe they should go bowling together?

Or, maybe just rattle their jewelry as john lennon said.

Is there a better thing to read about a team you support? Excellent quote.

All well and good having the skills and stats but without that appetite for a fight you go nowhere - see the Bengals.

Even the Romans got complacent after winning battle after battle. The only thing it got them was their city burned to the ground, salt planted in their fields and their women sold into slavery.

This quote IMO hits the nail on the proverbial head when it comes to truly articulating what the Pats of the 2000's are all about.

Above the talent level, the BB x's and o's, the Dillion, Moss and Thomas signings and the contruction of Gillette, this team has always had the inention of being tougher and slowing wearing down it's opponent mentally over the course of the game. It may be psychological or physical, but 95% of the teams out there just dont want to fight for 60 minutes. The Pat's scouting handbook says it all, "we want big, strong, tough fast football players who love footbal and put winning in the same list of priorities as god and family. ".

You always fight for what you love. If winning and football are it, then you have what it takes to be a Pat.

If the Patriots can rule for hundreds of years before that happens just as the romans did, I'm ok with that final result.
