Montana's heaps huge praise on Brady, Moss, Pats

He basically says that Moss and Brady are helping each other be even better.
(Just like rice did for him)

I know it's a nicey-nicey piece, but I doubt Joe is a politian. He basically echoed what everyone here hopes for, except he has relative experience and a relative gravity.

This team has a chance to be a great one. It'll be a hoot to watch.
The 49ers Hall of Fame quarterback may not have been gifted with the biggest arm or fastest legs, but he won, and won, and won. When he looks at Brady, he sees some similarities, but he also has to make a concession - Brady just might be better.

“He’s way too big and strong-armed for me,”

This is a bit off. Before Montana had his career almost ended with a back injury in 1986, he had some abilities Tom will never have, like being a very mobile QB when he had to be. He was capable of breaking off long runs when all his receivers were covered. I think he also threw the deep ball as well as Tom. Either Joe is being too modest now or Tomase is cherry picking his comments. Montana and Brady could end up 1 - 2 as all time best QBs, but that article makes it sound like Montana may become a distant second. Never happen unless Tom gets several more rings. Joe even still has a six point lead in QB rating over Tom, even though the further back you go, the lower QB ratings are, probably mostly because of rule changes in defensing the pass.

Don't get me wrong, I think Tom is great, but Joe should stop downplaying himself a little.

How about instead of disecting Joe Montana's words and 'what he meant' we just don't sit back and enjoy what we have?

Tom Brady is a great QB and will go down as one of the greatest ever to play. He is the modern day Joe Montana and we got him in the 6th round. We've won championships with this guy and even had a 21 game winning streak.

Tom Brady owes us nothing. Just sit back and enjoy!

Maybe Joe thinks he couldn't have done it with the weapons Tom had at his dosposal through the first 3 rings. Heard someone mention last week that for all the talk about the tandem of Montana to Rice, Young to Rice was a lot more productive in their time together. So perhaps Joe also sees in Tom a greater capacity to utilize an elite weapon once he's finally been given one.

Err, no.

TB has a 90.3 rating which is rapidly increasing.

JM has a 92.3 rating.

TB has a 128+ rating when playing with a great receiver. JM had less than a 100 rating when playing with a great receiver.

TB is better and JM knows it.

Brady still owes us one more Super Bowl! Stay hungry.

Umm, no. He may feel he owes himself one (or more) more ring, but he owes us fans only one thing--that as long as he's out on the field, he'll do his best to win. Thankfully, he's even harder on himself than we are in that regard, so I don't think we have too much to worry about there. :)

Great read...
