When will the injury report come out? Has anyone heard if Maroney will play vs. Cowboys? I kind of think he was held back vs. Cleveland because we really didn't need him to win. Any ideas?

Yes

I think that he really HAS to come back this week.....the Pats need his attack.............I would be shocked if he wasn't back in uni this week....

I hope not. I've got Morris in my fantasy league.

Seriously, I hope to see him out there come Sunday.

A similar thread knocking Maroney for being injury prone lauded Steven Jackson for being a workhorse. They have, as far as we know, similar groin injuries. Jackson is already out for this week, the third in a row.

My piddling football experience, in comparison, featured broken bones and a pulled groin. Ignoring doctors, I played easily with broken hands and wrists. When I pulled my groin, I couldn't walk. It would be counterproductive. Any illusion of faking the run would be snuffed out after the first drive, even a three and out. His production would be nil. The probability of stretching the tendons and/or muscle is guaranteed.

The groin is a britch. Season ending (if not managed intelligently).

PS: Think of the HOF Ravens tackle, J. Ogden, talking about how he thought toe injuries were BS until he got TURF TOE. I believe he's now on IR. If he's not, he's been MIA. Seemingly innocuous injuries are often some of the most debilitating.

yeah ive pulled a groin.(i realise it would be way to easy to make a crack there, but please control yourselves.) and it was the worst, you feel incapable of anything that involves walking, and playing football seems laughable.

We do not "need" Maroney to beat Dallas. I think he WILL play, though. I think he's been held out as BB has been extra-cautious the last two weeks. I think Maroney's back, goes over 100 and we win by double-digits.

I think it would be best for us, as fans, to stop thinking of Maroney as a first round savior that we have been accustomed to seeing for other teams. On this team, he is simply the starting RB. We have a back-up that has shown to be fully capable.

As farmers make concessions for inclement growing seasons, so has the front office for RB needs. Maroney may have an ever banner year, but when he runs dry, Morris is rarely thrown for a loss, a la Dillon, in all honesty.

if he is not a 100%, he might as well sit it out... we need him in bigger games.

as much as I am worried concerned about Maroney..I am also concerned with Faulk...

Maroney will be playing in a couple of weeks. Faulk I consider unikely to play for a bit. I just hope he is not IRd...

And without both..I think the offense will not be as good at all...Eckel and Evans are a bit MORE FBs than RBs...and I think it puts a LOT of stress on Morris carrying the whole load..PLan B someone..I know BB has a few things ready...

Good thing you don't really know or I'd be concerned...

I know that Maroney has a groin which can be a lingering injury and he has already missed two weeks. I know Faulk went out and did not come back (as Thomas did, but with some obvious discomfort). When the injury report comes out today, Faulk will either be "limited participation" (he was able to stand) or "no partcipation" (in a wheelchair). We will not know until Sat. if he will be downgraded to "out", but best case is a moderate sprain, and even a sprain bad enough to prevent coming back into the game will typically get worse during the week as swelling takes 24-48 hours. We won't talk about worst case. Nobody knows, but there are reasons to be concerned.

Exactly. Funny how a backfield that was so strong a couple of weeks ago is thin, but that's the breaks. The FO did everything right. I'm just hoping Morris doesn't wear out.

The biggest hit to the team if Faulk is out is the 2-minute offense. Not that Morris can't do it, but it's a precision drill and Faulk really has that down. In a close game, that can be difference.

That is the case with injuries..
it's more a concern because Morris would not be sharing carries that much..Evans is only an inside back and carrying the ball is strictly short yardage only..with Eckel, it MAY be different...but he's a clear big difference between the two..I would say if there is a good chance both may be out, another back is brought in ASAP...
And here is where none of us REALLY know what is going on..Faulk may NOT be all that bad and maybe will be able to play..Maroney might be ready to go as well. On the other hand, both might be closer to being out..We can only speculate and jusge by the moved the team makes.
I can NOT see the Patriots going to Dallas with both out and Morris, Evans and Eckel in the backfield.
A wild guess?? kind of crazy..use Bam as a RB...

Faulk is not replaceable in that he does several things very well, especially receiving, screen run, but also including blitz pick up. The blocking can be replaced, but don't look for a screen game if Faulk is out. Evans could not haul in a third down pass last week on which Faulk has an easy first down.

VERY true...thus the concern...If either is close to 100% and playing..I think the concern goes away..Maroney/Morris or Falk/Morris..all is fine for the game.

Maroney?

Well...???

I hope he is well enough to play. If not, I hope they continue to rest him. Although both teams are 5-0, this isn't the superbowl. It's still early in the season and their is no need to rush someone back from injury just because this is a "big" game. I understand the Pats are getting pretty thin at RB, but its looks as though Faulk will be ok and Maroney is almost ready for return. If the Pats made a trade for a RB, then I would get a little worried about Maroney's situation.
