OT: Deangelo Hall to Colts?

Indianapolis with solid DB dept could be looking to bolster there defensive backfield with Pro-bowl standout DeAngelo Hall. Hall wants out of “Atlanta’s sinking ship” and wants to join a contender fast.

Indianapolis is offering Kenton Keith and an undisclosed draft pick. Keith 27, has gained a lot of media attention recently and with the health of aging Warrick Dunn and the inconsistent play of second year veteran Jerious Norwood. I still hold out a lot of hope for the young DB, but he is a brash sort, isn't he?

As a Pats fan, I'd actually welcome it. The (eventual) salary and attitude would be disruptive. While he does have a knack for the spectacular and is talented, he is also easily exploited by those with even more savvy (see: Tom Brady, Randy Moss)

I would think ATL could get a better deal, tho. Of course, NFL trades always seem a little goofy.

i like d-hall but he gets burned all the time.. last year i saw him get burned countless times, and he only got the 11 picks cause he got thrown at alot.
he has days where he can shut people down, but he is no shut down corner.
infact there hasn't been a true shutdown corner since primetime.

I don't know, man. I've seen Bailey do a lot of chasing and biting this year.

I grant you he is the de facto standard, but he has been looking vulnerable this year.

the opposing team couldn't throw to the SIDE OF THE FIELD that prime was in. he was ridiculous and champ is great, he is one of the best, but there have only been a handful of shutdown corners in the the history of the NFL.
shutdown is supposed to mean just that.. if a guy was being covered by deion, they were shut down, no point throwing it in that direction.

there should be a term for "almost shutdown" champ is almost shut down.

I wouldn't get carried away with nostalgia. Deion got burned plenty of times by teams with the means. And if running was your game, Prime-time was prime territory to aim at.

primetime got burned, but not at the rate of any corner in todays league.
primetime could man up against the likes of rice and irvin and nearly shut them out. todays corners are not near primetime, and im sure if you asked them they would tell you that, prime is a future hall of famer, and probobly the best corner to play the game, and probobly the best all around athlete to boot.

Don't mean to take only this part of your post but primetime never shutdown rice, Rice always had his best games against the falcons and cowboys when he played PRIMETIME.

Please to even hint that Sanders played the run as well as a HS CB is an insult to High School CBs. He was absolutely one of the WORST CBs EVER vs the run and everyone knows that. He was a terrible tackler and avoided contact on runs so bad it was embarassing to watch an NFL player ole' like he was a matadore.

well that might be right, but i don't remember seeing rice burning prime, he did have big games against dallas, but he usually took advantage of when he was being covered by other CBs. i could be wrong though.

originally i had a couple other recievers in there, but decided to erase them and leave rice, (figured id get some hate with some of em, drug abuse related comments and the like..) thats why i refered to rice as "them" later.. lol

the thing is.. cornerbacks are normally terrible against the run... he was just a supercorner.. and the super applies to everything.. even their faults. lol

That's cool I'm just saying Rice put up his two 5 touchdown games against the Falcons w/ Deion but you can't hold that against him Rice torched alot of CBs.

not sure, i've heard planty of rumers about D-hall wanting a trade, but not any concerning the colts, i don't see someone who is such a known dirty player, (and from everything ive heard just a bad person), being on a tony dungy team..

Hall would be disruptive, but his salary would not be...

OK that was funny!

I do think there are several good corners that do ok against the run.

My point with Deion was he was SOOOO bad against the run IMO it does NOT make him the best CB ever like people like to make him out to be.

If you grade him out to be the best "Cover" corner ever at 100% I wouldn't argue too much with that. Though with the rules as they are now, I think corners playing now have it harder and could be easily just as good if playing by the rules Deion played.

Now his run support was so below standard I think it takes away greatly when anyone talks about "the greatest CB ever" stuff. Really it was embarrassing to watch him act like a ballerina on a running play.

Now I will give you he embarrassed other players trying to tackle him when he had the ball....but watching him play two hand touch with running backs was a sight I will never forget and is how I remember him because of how rediculous it was. Don't know why he did that because he certainly had an A game elsewhere...all he needed was a D- would have been good but he had a "Did not complete" or was it "compete"??? in tackling.

Well, Champ Bailey. For that matter Antoine Winfield. Hell, even Q. Jammer stands against the run better than most "cover" corners.

I'll take a B cover, B contain DB over an A+ cover, F contain DB all day and 50 plays on sunday.

And, in todays game, Champ is/was an A+ cover. This year, I give him a B/B+.
