Interesting take on this seasons "top ranked" QB

Roast who?? I have a right to be here. AND it's pretty funny that you and your brethren are so insecure and jealous that you won't even evaluate the article and discuss.

The current published rankings are for the week. Brady was 6th, big deal. Under Mannings name, they indicate a SIDE NOTE that Manning is now #1 (in their books) for the season.

Don't you find this interesting and relevant?? Brady is having an outstanding year, we all realize that. Not trying to take that away, or say that he isn't. But what the comments suggest is that Manning is slightly more impressive, given the competition he's faced so far.
Yes you are trying to roast Brady! No, I don't care what the article says. After the first 5 weeks they have Brady at 6th. Give me a ******* break!! That article is trash, just like the topics you start. You're right, you have a right to be here, but according to your name, you're trying to live up to it.

It's as if you read one line, and jump to a conclusion.
The "list" as you see it, was for WEEK FIVE ONLY. Now, if you go look at Manning, he was number 1 for week 5, Brady was 6. In the COMMENTS SECTION under Manning, it states for the season, manning had supplanted Tom for the #1 spot, but TOM IS NOT 6th, it implies he's SECOND.

It is NOT a ROAST on Brady, it's a different take on his performance to date, and how to relates to level of competition, which has been a pretty hot topic recently.

None of that really matters much does it? Let's see what the final standings are at the end of the year. IMO the Pats will have the best record in the AFC and secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
We're not talking about teams and standings, were talking about individual performance. Based on the threads here, Brady has exceeded his already annointed "deity" status, and has risen to some new, never before attained level. We can talk about predictions for the remainder of the season, but that is for a different thread.

With the exception of TDs their numbers are almost the same.

I think the take most Pats fans have is that we always knew Brady could put up the insane numbers other QBs have if he had the tools. He now has them and is putting them up.

The impressive thing is what he was able to do with lesser talent, and please don't start on Deion Branch he wouldn be at best the 3rd receiver on either the Pats or Colts right now.

BTW I expect by the end of the year Peyton will have better numbers than Brady because he plays one out door game in cold weather @Baltimore. Brady's last seven are all outside in cold weather cities. So far this years they've both played in perfect conditions. And it's not an excuse it's simple facts that QB numbers will drop in those games.

I responded to the PM but i'll say it here as well, how exactly has Manning passed Brady?

P.Manning: 115 for 165, 69.7 Pass %, 1319 yrds, 8.0 avg, 10 TD, 2 Int, 3 Sacks

T.Brady: 117 for 158, 74.1 Pass %, 1383 Yrds, 8.8 Avg, 16 TD, 2 Int, 3 Sacks.

Brady has more TD, better Pass %, and better Avg.

Adjusted for level of competition etc.., They have a link that details their system. Haven't you guys looked at those sites, where they have DVOA, and all that stuff. Aikman has his formulas, etc..,

I will use the Colts argument about Brady and Manning...
Brady is better because he has the better stats.

Besides, you can't compare the competition because one is a NFC team and the other is an AFC team. I know that Brady was nominated again this week (5) for the FedEx Air player of the week, Manning wasn't. So I guess the debate goes on.

Adjusted for the competition, give me a break.

Besides, Brady has the better numbers and on track to destroy Mannings TD record. Now that I think of it, Brady and the Pats have made history again based off of their start to their season.

You guys never go to football outsiders and take a look at what they do? Not saying they are right or wrong, because everyone has theories, but there is no single correct way to evaluate such an intricate team sport. Here's an explanation of some of the things that they take into account:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7311660#method

"At FootballOutsiders.com, we've developed a system called Defense-adjusted Points Above Replacement (DPAR) that gives us a pretty good idea of which players did the most to help their teams win or lose. The success of every single NFL play is judged based on yardage gained towards both a touchdown and a first down. Then each play gets compared to the NFL average on similar plays, based on down, distance, and other variables. Players are judged not based on how many yards they get, but on how important those yards are in the context of the game. We also adjust for the quality of the opposing defense; because it is still early in the season, the opponent adjustments this week are only 50 percent of their eventual strength."

"Players receive bonuses when they play well against good defenses, and they don't get rated as world-beaters when they shred the Cincinnati Bengals. "
