Despite all attempts from the officials to screw over the Cardinal, they are the first team in 6 years to beat the Trojans at the Coliseum.

Stanford 24, USC 23

Simply amazing game. Gutty effort from Stanford. Unbelievable!

My sister in law (Stanford student) is ecstatic. Said the party will be going on all night up in the Bay.

USC was a 41 pt favorite.

Did you see the reaction from the LSU crowd and players when they announced the score? Talk about a shot in the arm.

And wasn't Stanford like 2-10 last year?

Get the F outta here - even more unbelievable!

I was amazed they didn't overturn the 4th and 20 conversion when they reviewed the spot. Or when they didn't call Stanford for a ticky-tack pushoff on the winning TD. But if Booty is going to throw 4 picks then they deserve to lose.

The huge irony: the real beneficiary is up in the East Bay, since the Cardinal just handed Cal control of the Pac-10.

(At Stanford, the football season isn't really about wins and losses. It's just about beating Cal. Give 'em the axe!)

Oh, BTW--the Cardinal blocked an XP on USC's first TD of the game. :)

This could be just as surprising - Notre Dame are beating UCLA in LA by 14 points and it's in the 2nd half.

Hope this isn't a sign of an upset weekend, we're 16 1/2 point favorites. Looks like 1 and 2 will lose tonight.

I didn't see the game. Did Pete have that old look in his eye that we remember, total jaw-dropping befuddlement? BTW, hope ND holds on as I have no desire to see an undefeated BC go into a winless South bend next week...

Five turnovers by USC, including one for a TD, plus countless penalties. That's the way you upset a team. The thing is looks like a 1-loss team may play for the national championship. If Ohio State can run the tables, I think they may get that rematch with Florida. I still think Florida is the team to beat.

Yeah, like he couldn't believe his O-line couldn't contain the pass rush. Booty looked HORRIBLE.

Seriously though, Boston College control their own destiny if LSU goes on to lose tonight. Look at their schedule....

October 13 at Notre Dame
October 25 at No. 15 Virginia Tech
November 3 Florida State
November 10 at Maryland
November 17 at No. 22 Clemson
November 24 Miami (FL)

Plus the ACC Championship Game.

Four out of six are road games, and the two home games are versus Florida State and Miami. Ouch.

And now LSU is down 24-14 in the 4th Q. Not that it'd be anywhere near the USC upset. College football is crazy this year. Wisconsin was #5 and lost, too.

Urban Meyers is a ******* dumbass. How the **** did he let 30 seconds drain from the clock with 3 TOs. What a moron!

On the other hand when I saw USC was only winning 9-0 at the half it immideatly drew my interest. I thought USC had won once they had scored their last TD and I didn't turn the game back on! I am so furious with myself. Amazing. 41 point favorites just got shocked. And they almost lost to Washington last week.

BC definitely going up to 6 and likely #5.

LSU is the best team in the country (followed by USC, upsets are upsets), but boy wouldn't it be something if BC played for the national championship? Have to get by a tough game like the Hokies in Blacksburg on a Thursday night, Miami, and Florida State (Clemson looks relatively weak), and the Notre Dame game might have alot of energy in the air so you never know. Still, BC has started winning the games they're supposed to win under Jags as well as the pushes - a trademark of the O'Brien era was always losing to a push team like Georgia Tech and a bad team, so BC would've lost to Bowling Green State as well.

That said, BC stands as good a chance as any of finding themselves undefeated. And I'm in Ireland for the year rather than at BC.
