Josh McDaniels Appreciation Thread

I agree Josh is doing a great job with the play calling but fitting him for a head coach position seems premature to me.
It's only been 4 games but it still goes deeper for me then that.
We have Tom freakin Brady the greatest QB ever to play the game we love.
We have a very well coached and underated O line, we have the best receivers Brady ever has had. BB to keep these guys focused and not to mention Randy Moss is wearing the flying Elvis.
You can't take a Mcdaniels insert him in a Miami or a buffallo and expect the same results with that weak personal.
Plus i'm a little greedy 5 years down the road he might make a great coach for us.
Bottom line is people have seen Crennel and Mangini work under expectations I think they'll be hesitant on taking Mcdaniels.
I think Jason Garret is up for a head coaching job in Dallas, also the Green Bay Packers Defensive coach should get a shot at it.
Thank god Pees is old and Mcdaniels will be listed as a benefactor of a great situation and be written off hopefully.

It is premature - but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Look at Mangini and Kiffin. And Tomlin.

And the Raiduhs were reportedly knocking on JMcD's door last year.

Which, I believe, makes the C******f*** Avoidance score McDaniels 1, Manratni 0.

As pointed out, whether McDaniels is ready or not is irrelevant. The trend in the NFL is to find the next young head coach. The days of recycling older head coaches is slowly going away. Norv Turner has seen his last head coaching job after this year. Guys like Tomlin, Mangini, Cameron, is the way the league seems to be going.

As also pointed out, McDaniels has already gotten some attention for head coaching position. I think McDaniels is smarter than Mangini was and is willing to absorb what he can from Belichick and wait for the right position and build his reportoire more. Granted, he could be really hot after this year and could even be offered the San Deigo job. That would be a tough job to turn down with the talent they have.

I think McDaniels is doing well, but the talent on the offensive side of the ball is just sick. Honestly, with these players, if the team wasn't putting up these kinds of numbers I'd wonder. But the games have had a decent flow to them to this point.

Time to give this guy major kudos for his work so far this season. Last year he was bashed weekly for inadequecies in the offense eventhough he clearly didn't have the weapons. A lot of people were unwilling to discount the offensive problems we had a times to the fact that our WR corp consisted of Reche Caldwell and not much else for most of the year and our lead back was Corey Dillon who clearly lost a step and didn't have the stamina to play into the second half in a lot of games.

I can't see how any coordinator could have done a much better job than McDaniels has done this year. Yes, Moss is a freak, Welker is an incredible addition, Morris has far exceeded everyone's expectations, the o-line is blocking better than they ever had, and Brady is playing at a completely different level than the rest of the league; but you gotta think McDaniels has a lot to do with all of this. How many times have you questioned a call this year? How many times have we had to punt this year?

I think many of the people who trashed McDaniels last year (and it wasn't just NEM) owe him a huge apology. The guy has been incredible this year.

Thank you for starting this thread. I personally think he was fantastic last year also. If you look at how he made the best of the situation at WR, how he dealt with the injuries at the RB position .... and still realize that we almost went to the superbowl .... Josh is truly someone special.

And now this year, they have got 3 new WR a new RB and a new zoneblocking scheme for the OL ..... a challenge for any young coaching staff. And after 4 games it looks like the WR corps is a well oiled machine, the zone blocking scheme is starting to pay divedends, and both RB's are forces to be reckoned with.

Add to that the new plays and formations, and the ability to change offensive styles on a dime - it's just amazing. This O is as flexible and capable of changing looks as the D has always been. I don't know how you gameplan against them because they do everything so well.

Coordinators often get too much blame when a team loses and too little credit when they win.

I think we have the best coached team top to bottom in the NFL. As evidenced by JM's name being thrown around for a HC job last year, smart people in the NFL thinks so too.

p.s. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any apologies from the anti-JM crowd.

It takes good players, good coaching, and good execution to run a good offense. It doesn't matter how many probowlers you have if the coaching and execution is lacking.

Just ask the Chargers.
