If you could add one player to the existing Patriots squad from any team in the NFL, who would it be? Would you strengthen the interior LBs with Urlacher or add a Champ Bailey to strengthen the secondary?

I am by no means qualified as an expert, and I don't think Hanson has done badly, I think Brian Moorman would be a nice addition. Otherwise, I'd just grab a young player at LB only because we are getting a little old there.

Secondary: Check. With #37 on the way, love the depth
LBs: Check. Love the depth
DL: Check. With #93 on the way, love the depth
OL: Check. Love the depth
QB: Manning if I could in case Brady goes down
RB: If we lost Maroney, I dont know if Morris could hold up an entire year. Give me Stephen Jackson
Punter: We're fine. A JAG would fill in.
PK: Vinatieri

Easy. Peyton Manning. It would give us a decent back-up Qb while crippling a chief rival. Otherwise...

1. Ed Reed
2. Merriman
3. Antonio Gates
4. Jammal Brown: not playing well early this year, but best young LT in the NFL.
5. Adrian Wilson
6. Haloti Ngata
7. Terrell Suggs
8. DeMarcus Ware
9. Julian Peterson
10. John Henderson
11. Kiwanuka- just because I like him + huge talent for 3-4 OLB
12. Sean Taylor
13. Demeco Ryans
14. Champ Bailey
15. Rashean Mathis

To paraphrase my favorite all-time movie line "My team is on the field".

Sure we don't have the best player in the NFL at every position, but the pieces fit together just fine.

A few ideas of where the best at his position would help:
-A NT (Williams?) so we could play Vince at DE while Seymour mends. Then a 3 man rotation. I think Wilfork would be an awesome 34 DE.
-A corner, just so we have more depth in case of injury, because corners get hurt a lot
-A LB for the same reason, because of age

But #1 would be a backup QB.

Andy,
Whats your opinion on bringing Moorman on board?

Bob Sanders, just to take him away from the Colts, he is the glue to their defense.

Punter???

Punter???

Why do we need a punter?

5 punts in 4 games!!!!

Oh wait I get it........

We need one in order to practice the RETURNS.......

Bob Sanders - Hands Down

I love Rodney but the end is near.

Sanders or Troy Polomolu would have the biggest impact

A punter is a nonfactor in blow outs...however, in a close game, they can be difference makers. Perhaps the poster was thinking that getting to 16-0 will involve some close games, and a punter could help swing things in our favor.

Hasn't this thread been done like 93480980923448 times already?

Yeah, this should be merged with the recent long thread on the subject.

A week or two later, my opinion hasn't changed that it would be a defensive player.

Specifically, let's go with Champ Bailey or Ed Reed.

Who do you add to make the run to 16-0?

Don't forget to donate to keep quality programming like this on the air.

a game breaking WR like Randy Moss or something.

Oh wait, we have him :rocker: :rocker: :rocker:

Naw! ProFootballTalk stated Moss would be cut by his current team at the start of this season. Also, Felger opined that Moss was "dogging it" during pre-season.
