Maroney is hurt already

I'd take Ricky Williams every day and 15 times on sunday.

Its the truth and no one wants to hear it. Comparing guys like Steve Jackson and Gore to Maroney is silly. They are HORSES who have much more chance of injury becuse they actually carry the ball a lot.

Maroney has all the talent in the world. He needs to stay healthy.

Umm...Frank Gore tore up both of his knees before. Once, he did it in spring practice after a winter of no football, disrupting the long-standing myth that RB's only injure themselves after a certain number of carries.

The kid is always hurt. Im not saying he is not a great player. Maroney is a great player. He IS somewhat injury proned. Saying your chance of injury is not greater the more you carry the ball is just dumb. The Gore thing you brought up is a anomoly. Not the norm.

I can't totally disagree with you here Dan, and you make a fair point. He has not had a ton of carries by any means....but does seem to have some durability issues in his career thus far....I don' think this is an unfair statement.....but am sure that alot will :0)

I have a Maroney jersey. I love the kid. This is not a personal thing. But the harsh reality is the kid is hurt a lot. Like you said I am just making imo a fair point.

Conversely, he stuck it out last year with an injury most fans not only fail to recognize the severity of, but would be unable to walk with.

We're stacked this year. RB is essentially a position that his stabbed, shot, and kicked on every play. It's a concern when RB gets hurt, sure. We're lacking Seymour and Rodney on D. Do we miss them? Most folks (not PatsFans crazies) prolly haven't even noticed.

Hopefully he bounces back, in the meantime Sammy Morris is getting it done. Another ridiculously good offseason pick up. :rocker:

I think he could have played if needed. But looking at cincy's defense BB probably figured he didn't need him,and thought it was better to give him the night off.

Atleast it gave us a chance to truly appreciate what Sammy Morris can do for us in a pinch. Hell, If Maroney needed the night off I'm good with it now, knowing that Morris,Faulk and Evans can shoulder the load. I welcome the two headed RB tandem now more than ever.

Who needs him, we have Super Sammy Morris. That MOFO is like a train coming through the line. I love the way he runs.

My thoughts exactly. Why risk further injury against the JV team defense.

Close to being activated? What, did they write the first half of his first name on the active line up sheet, then use white out? Did they have him put his thigh pads on, but then stop him when he got to the shoulders? How does one get "close to activated"?

One makes the trip as opposed to staying home like some.

On Morris' TD run, I thought I saw a faster Corey. Go Pats:rocker:

I have to agree with Danny here. Maroney has split time at RB, and has been an injury waiting to happen. People sure pile on when somebody has something less than positive to say. :)

First for those with any clue about football everyone has some type of injury and a lot of those players even this early in the season are playing through something.

Maroney can't stay on the field? Playing in 14 out of 16 games in 2006 and all of NE's potseason games is a "china doll"?

Seriously, just a few hours before game time they believed Maroney was going to play and likely start. For whatever reason the Patriots decided to let him sit out this week and heal his groin. Maroney had intended to play all week, so I wouldn't worry about his injury to much. Also, it seems the Patriots have become more cautious with their players lately and as someone else already posted BB and staff might have figured they'd give him the week off to heal as they had Sammy ready to go.

I don't like that Maroney's having to miss time as much as the next guy, but I also know these type of little injuries can be a way of life in football. Therefor I'm not going to act like a fool and start calling Maroney (or even Steven Neal) a china doll. Heck, maybe you guys wanna start calling Seymour a china doll, too?

Thought the same thing and immediately thought of the assumptions that people made when we signed Morris, that he was Dillions replacement. Seeing him bounce off people and having two or three guys hanging off him does bring to mind Dillon. But it is not hard to see the difference between Dillion and Morris. Your observation about him being faster is right on. Especially on that 45 yarder. That just proves he really is a different runner.

We have been having some good luck mid-field. Moss' 45yd reception and Morris' run and Faulk to Welker handoff. Pretty exciting when the get midfield now. Big things are happening.

Maroney is a human. He has a heart and lungs just like everyone else. Are you trying to say maroney had an injury that would render a normal man unable to walk, but he could play rb in the nfl?

Serious question, not meant to be snide.......Have you ever played sports at a level higher than little league?

Remember that Pats played on monday night. So, only 6 days to the next game. Belichick probably prefered to see Maroney on the side than to see him play two close games with a nagging injury.
