I'm really excited about this up coming NHL season. It's going to be an unbelievably competative year. Last seasons races for the playoffs were tight, and only going to get better. Hope you have your fantasy hockey teams set up, it's going to be fun.

Sorry to change the subject, but only you would know this. Is the Polka Dot Dinner still in existance? And I'll be excited about hockey when J.Jacobs croaks. Maybe his son will get out of the hot dog buisness, and sell the team.

The bruins IMO will be even worse this year then last, 1-4-1 this preseason says it pretty much all! Why people continue to pay the highest priced NHL tickets in the game is beyond me. Don't you people realize nothing will change if you idiots continue to spend your money on this pathetic excuse of a NHL franchise!

The devils ran this coach out of the arena 4 days before the playoffs, how the #@$# does that not register with management, the players on the devils did not want to play for this guy anymore and basically had him fired! So what do we do of course lets make him the head coach here!:bricks:

I think you guys might have mistaken me as a Bruins fan or something. LMAO Did you really think I would be excited about the Bruins, lol. UMM...NO.

i am not excited, more sceptical. the last few years i was excited and bought into the front offices product. Not this year, they are going to have to show me something before i get interested.

I lost my excitement when Bobby Orr left the game, it has never been the same since his departure.. used to be a die hard Bruins fan, it is not the same as it used to be a watered down version of a great sport..

Well, I guess that's why they call some of us diehards. Say what you will about Julien, but he's worth 10 more wins by himself. Lewis was a nice guy, but he should be coaching high school players.

Don't forget, until they went 0-3-1 in that four game stretch against NYR and MON, they were one game out of a playoff spot. Then they folded.

They're not going to win the Cup, or even seriously contend for it, but they should be an entertaining team to watch. Their time is coming.

I hope you are one of the few people that are sticking with the Bruins, because so far this year they been fun to watch. A great game with the Kings, and Sharks. Tim Thomas played awesome last night. I always liked Thomas and thought he would be the starter this year until they brought in Manny. It looks like it won't be long before Thomas gets his starting job back.

Yep excited.....living in Florida its hard to keep up on the games....but I check every morning after to get updates. Looking good so far...:rocker:

I can't believe Kessel won another game in the shoot out for them. Talk about clutch. He's the man!

How about that 6-1 drubbing at the hands of the Canadiens last night? Why do I get the feeling that this team is about ready to come crashing down to earth?

Seriously it's Fernandez. He's not that good. When I heard Fernandez was coming to Boston, i was Like" WTF Thomas was good last year, and he's only going to get better". Thomas leads the NHL in two catagories. GAA and save%. If Boston wants to give themselves a chance they are going to have to make Thomas the full time starter. Have Fernandez play like every 3rd or 4th game to keep Thomas fresh. They do that. They get in the playoffs.

If you left after Orr, then I'm sorry for you 'cause you missed some great hockey, especially from he late 70s through the 80s and early 90s!

Those people aren't real fans anyway.

No doubt! From O'Reilly, Park, Krushelnyski Middleton, and Bourque through Janney, Neely, Tocchet, Oates and Moog. Just to name a few. The years we vanquished the Habs! Man, that was some great hockey.

I loved Tocchet he was my favorite NHL player for a while. He was an awsome all rounded player. He could score, hit, and when it came down to it he could fight. I actually still have a Tocchet jersey. It's a Flyers one though. Oates. Can never forget him. One of the best play makers to ever play the game.

Back in the days I lived in Massachusetts, I lived in Danvers for

a few years next to a golf pro called Cotton Dunn. One winter

Cotton decided to spend the winter in Florida to sharpen up his

golf game. He rented his house to Gerry Cheevers. Those were

the days when they were winning Stanley Cups with players like

Phil Esposito, Ken Hodge, Fred Stanfield, Derik Sanderson, etc.

I'm afraid this current Bruins' team is doomed to fail. Their new

coach has tightened up their defense but has precious few good

players to score goals. When the team misses the playoffs again,

management will simply fire the coach and general manager. They

will refuse to pump any new money into acquiring the good players

necessary to succeed. The Jacobs' family is committed to making

money from the Fleet Center and not winning Stanley Cups.

Since the salary cap was put in place, the Bruins have been up against it both years. It's hard to make that argument anymore. Between the Salary Cap and the removal of Mike O'Connell, I think better days will come fairly soon. If the Celtics can make players want to play in Boston again, certainly the Bruins can.

It could be worse, we could be Black Hawk fans. It's sad to say, but the best thing to happen to that franchise in the last 10 years has been the recent death of Bill Wirtz.

Favorite Players as a kid (started watching in the late 70s):

1. Stan Jonathan
2. Terry O'Reilly
3. A baby-faved #7 Ray Bourque
4. Wayne Cashman

Then when Cam Neely came along, he went straight to #1, with nobody else close. Well, maybe Rogie Vachon. I liked his name.

What would make that any different if Jacobs were to die in a plane crash next week, that would 100% be the best thing to happen to this franchise in the last decade plus also! There is absolutely nothing to cheer about with this franchise today, nothing!

You're a tough sell. The team's not going to dominate like the Patriots, or win the Championship like the Red Sox, but I think they're fun to watch right now.

I'm no Jacobs fan, and would be thrilled if he sold the team tomorrow. I'd lead the friggin parade. But he spends to the cap limit, keeps his hands off hockey decisions, and allows the televising of home games.

Right there is three things that Wirtz didn't do in Chicago.

It's on Chiaverelli now.
