No prognosis on if he could play next week. 49ers post game guy: "doesn't look good".

I think they sucked with him anyways so it dont matter much there still a below .500 team in my opinion.

you have a link saying it's separated?

Yes, below .500, but at least Smith was mobile. And, he was improving (slowly). Dilfer looked more like a statue today than Drew Bledsoe in a Cowboys uni. The 49ers look like 2004 again. Bad for the Bay Area, but good for that draft pick.

We'll trade their pick for a 1st in '09
... and a 2nd in '08.

SF's first pick in '08
will just be too conjectural ... and too expensive.

I'm betting that Matt Cassel is traded to Chicago for a 2nd rounder or higher. I'm saying Chicago because of the obvious need and BB relationship with The Chicago GM

They have two wins, some bad opponents and a respectable defense, they'll win enough to not be TERRIBLE. Now, if they were 0-4 right now like they could be that would be different. We're looking at 8-8 best case for them I think.

John McEnroe: "You CAN'T be SERIOUS!!!"

Nobody is going to give a second round pick for Matt Cassell.

they gave a 2nd rounder for matt schaub... i'd say chicago is depserate.

Alex Smith sucks anyway.

Right, but Matt Schaub at least had a couple of NFL starts on his resume and had looked decent. Matt Cassell didn't even start in college. So, unless Brady gets hurt (and I am sure nobody here wants that to happen) and Cassell comes in and plays well, I stand by my previous opinion.

The math is simple.

Matt Schaub: 2004 3rd Rd Pick + 2 good 2005 games = 2007 and 2008 2nd round picks.

Matt Cassel: 2005 7th Rd Pick + 1 decent 2005 game = not a 2nd round pick.

or by the last quarter of the season the pats have games wrapped up by the 4th quarter or they choose to rest brady the last game of the season.

with that said....it is pretty obvious that they are keep guitierrez for a reason and that cassel is out soon.

ya great logic.... where you're drafted determines your value... tell that to brady

For now I've moved to the "we won't get much for him" camp simply because he's so unproven and it's a strong QB draft. However I do think we could get something like a #3 or #4. A team looking for a QB with upside would be better going with a guy with physical skills who's played behind Brady for 3-4 years as opposed to some round 3/4 rookie.

I think that that SF pick is mor eimportant than a lot of Pats fans seem to think. We need to start preparing for the departure of some of our more senior linebackers (specifically inside). You don't draft for the next year, you draft for two or three seasons ahead of time.

Just stop. You'll get yourself killed. This is nonsense. Matt Schaub is a QUALITY, proven-ish NFL Quarterback. Cassel hasn't played since high school. He's a decent back-up option, but you're not getting a 5th for him, let alone a 2nd.

If Brady were to get hurt - God forbid - and Cassel came in and did well, then you'd have something. But trust me, your scenario is incredibly unlikely.
