Ok, I created this video because I had the ability to look at this play frame by frame, forwards and backwards, and I felt that even the slow-mo that the network played didn't give a good indication of what went on. To that end I decided to put it out there for everyone else to see (the whole knowledge is power thing) knowing that it wouldn't change everyone's mind but at least people could fight about it with better information. Anyway, I watched as the view count on the vid went from 100 after I posted the link here and boston.com to nearly 31,000 today. This morning I flip on Dale and Holly on EEI and THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT IT...it's like the main focus of their show, it's even the daily poll question on the site. They found it because Florio has it embedded on his PFT site under the rumor mill section! (not surprisingly he views it 100% opposite of the way I do).

So this thing has gotten out of hand and I should have known better. I think in the future I'll just keep my mouth/keyboard/video editor shut :bricks: <--self

Hahaha. Congrats on your 15 mins of fame, though. :) That's gotta be pretty cool.

P.S. No link?

Would have been cool to get a per-click fee off that one, eh? You could be like that kid that made the $1M web page. Or the pet rock. :D

You should have included a written commentary with the video describing how the hit was not intentional, stressing the part at the beginning where Wilfork was blocked into Losman. The only thing I find questionable about the hit was throwing his forearm out, but that can be viewed either way.

Or make a mat...with conclusions...that you can JUMP to!

From the 2nd angle in the video, I saw something I hadn't noticed before. After Wilfork gets hit from behind, causing him to fall forward, his head turns sideways away from Losman...meaning he didn't see Losman as he fell into him.

Still should have been a penalty (not enough evidence to prove Wilfork had no control in coming in low at Losman), but I think it shows that he wasn't trying to hit Losman's knee with his elbow since he wasn't looking at Losman. Just an unfortunate result when you have 340 lbs. of human falling in front of you.

Funny, i was arguing about this very video on another forum... didn't know a patsfans.com guy made it

If you thought it would exonerate Vince, you were mistaken. Even though Vince was clearly tackled from behind, you think patriots haters would take their anti-patriots goggles off and look at it objectively? Hoooo boy are you mistaken.

I hadn't seen that video before.

What's it's intended effect? To make it look non-intentional?

The video makes me, well, slightly uncomfortable.

I believe Vince. And ultimately there's no way to know what's in a guy's heart or mind if you're not the guy. And there's enough video evidence to at least support non-intentional theories.

But that video isn't exactly a ringing exoneration.

It looks like Wilfork was running at Losman, but an OL tackled his legs and Wilfork went down and put his arm out to break the fall and hit Losman. It looked like he was just trying to break through the O line until he got tackled from behind.

That's what I also thought when I saw earlier replays. My impression was that Losman was not in Wilfork's field of view.

I believe he was just trying to make a play and not giving up on heading in the vicinity of the QB.

Who knows...if he came in contact a foot higher on Losman's leg, and Losman was making a throw, it could have caused a bad throw and maybe a pick. Then we'd all be commending him on going that extra mile to make a play.

I don't think it was intentional. But only Wilfork knows for sure.

why didnt you call Dale and Holley and explain your video they would have put you on the show for a 15 min spot. nice job BTW

Obviously he wasn't intending to injure Losman, but it did look like he was reaching out in an effort to disrupt him. If Brady got injured on an identical play we'd be calling for the opposing player's head. Of course it is Losman we're talking about here though... not quite as much of a loss to his team.

Brady has been injuried on late hits every season that he has played.

The difference is that Brady gets back up and keeps playing, injuried or not.

Losman is a total douchebag, and anyone who paid attention when he came out of college could see this kid's immature attitude.

I don't give a crap that Wilfork hit him one way or the other. This whole topic is of no interest to me personally, but I realize that some Pats fans are going to want to protect Wilfork's reputation, because he is a good guy and a clean player.

OK, right as Wilfork gets tripped his body turns to the left and goes out of control. For those who don't know, when you're going just about full speed and someone trips you there really isn't much you can do. Also, Vince already had his arm somewhat extended before getting tripped (he was getting ready to hit the QB), it just flailed out a little more as he was crashing toward the ground. Really, Vince should have received the penalty because there's about no way for the ref to tell for sure Vince didn't mean to hit JP, at the same time that Bills O-Linemen should have been penalized as well. Tripping someone like that is dirty.

Question, why wasn't they'er much U and cry after Kimo Von offaldorfin trashed Carson Palmers knee? To me that WAS intentional. Kimo crawled to get to Palmer, then dove into his knee. The ball was long gone, I don't even think there was a penalty. Palmer one of the elite QB's in the league but again I don't remember hearing much in the way of complaining about it like I'm hearing with a third rate QB like Loserman.

I agree with AZ, I don't really think the video helps. I have read alot of posts where people are saying that Vince was trying to break his fall, etc, but he throws his elbow out....he doesn't try to land on his arm, which you would do if you were trying to cushion the landing. Also, the fact that his head was at an angle, looking away, is meaningless, since he clearly knew where Loserman was during the play.
I think he threw the elbow out trying to knock Loserman down, but wasn't trying to hurt him. He should have been penalized, no question. the fine is pretty minimal, all things considered, so I think the NFL feels it wasn't a deliberate intent to injure.

I don't think Vince was intentionally going for Losman's knee, but the exagerated way he extends his elbow makes it look like he was trying to make contact with Losman. Plus Vince played at the U, so you have to figure he's got a dirty streak (kidding).

What's the deal with YouTube? Is it technically legal to use NFL game footage?

I don't know how many different ways I can say this so I think I'll just say it again and then not come back to the issue:

I "made" this video not to prove the point either way, but to provide others with near the same level of information I used to come to my own conclusion; a conclusion that I purposefully left out of the description on YouTube. I have the ability to look at this vid frame by frame and zoomed in however I like, the benefit of the type of DVR I use and the fact that I've done some video editing as a hobby. I wasn't very impressed with what the networks showed during the game and felt this was a way to give others the ability to review the play. I know that haters will still hate and homers will still have their Patsgoggles on, but maybe for some who where on the fence this helped them to decide which side they where on...and I don't care which side it is.

I will admit that 40,000 YouTube views later I have had my second thoughts about the whole issue of putting material like this out there for general consumption.....next time there's an issue like this floating around the league I'll most likely just check things out for myself and leave it at that :(
