with all the other news going around it seems that the fact is lost that one of the biggest (most hyped) games in regular season history will be going down in a few weeks. Pats come to the Dome for the last time ,new look Pats against the defending champs. Anybody else wish it was next week?

I wish it were next week because I think we'll win comfortably - barring injury - and there's many weeks to go for the injury factor to kick in. But all things (injuries, suspensions) being equal I expect the Patriots to win by 10+.

The only team that really worried me right now (and this can change quickly) is Pittsburgh because they're the only ones with solid units across the board - IMO of course.

1 game at a time, baby! (but, yes, I look forward to it very much!)

Are you kidding? No one will shut up about the game. I'm looking forward to it, but it isn't for, what, over a month?

It will be, and should be, the most hyped game of the year.

In the meantime we play Cincy, Cleveland, Dallas, Washington, and Miami. Not exactly right around the corner.

My response

One game at a time, we have a few teams to worry about before we start thinking about the Colts.

You have Denver, Bucs and the Jags to worry about. Those are going to be tough games, tough physically and tough to win.

See ya Nov 4th

I strongly disagree. The Colts are the Champs and as of now have won 8 games in a row, the Defense is playing strong the offense is not clicking and is still scoring 31 ppg. Plus the AFC South is the toughest divison in football right now. Who have the Pats played?? http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Articles/2_987_2007_Quality_Standings.htmlI I have faith in the champs

Well we'll see. Sure the Colts won last year but that doesn't mean they were the best team nor does it mean they are currently the best team.

AFCS ? It's improved I guess but I'm not ready (cue up Dennis Green) to "Crown their Ass" quite yet. You beat Houston without their best player, a solid Tennessee and a seemingly bad New Orleans. BFD.

It's all words, it means nothing, I am fully confident we'll smoke your ass just like we would have done last year had all things been equal. Not only do we have the depth now to sustain injuries better than last year but we also have a significantly upgraded starting lineup. You have neither.

Two 2006 playoff teams. How many 2006 playoff teams have the Colts played?

You should read that link I posted in my last post. Those teams have shown nothing to suggest they will be any good this season (Jets, Bills), even though Chargers still should make the playoffs. The Titans and Texans are strong divisional opponents who play the Colts twice a year. Last year the Colts went 0-3 on the road against divisional opponents. This year they are already 2-0. Now the Saints are looking a lot weaker week by week but the Colts D still stopped them at fullpower.

At one time or another TWO of our previous THREE opponents made the playoffs, so there!!!

HAHAHA!!!

Jets-Not worthy of the playoffs LAST YEAR, and won't sniff the POST SEASON this year.
Buffalo-Well, they're Buffalo
SD-Not even counted as a quality win! Only 3 games in, and they aren't considered "quality" at this point.

Your opponents 2-7 (none with a winning record)
Ours 4-5 (two with a winning record)

You seem like a good fan for the most part Belichick but it's sad you go to the tired excuses thing that a lot of other Pat fans do. Yes, the Colts were the best team last year because they won the SB. Until someone knocks them off they are still the defending champs and on top. Also the dome has become one of if not the hardest place to play in the NFL. You act like the Colts didn't have injuries all of last year? Stokley, Reagor, Harper, Doss, Simon. The Colts were no where close to their full strength during anytime last season and they still pulled it out.

The Colts Defense is significantly upgraded by the way, if you haven't been watching the games

This is kind of a silly thing to argue about isn't it? The colts are 3 and 0 and have looked good. The pats are 3 and 0 and have looked good. Lets just wait till its the week of the game to discuss more about this. We have the Bengals to worry about. I believe you have the Broncos. Go tell them how you are going to kick their @ss.

No, they were the champions - not necessarily the best team. Why do those two have the be the same ? The best team often doesn't win the Super Bowl.

In 2003 and 2004 I think the best team won it - in 2001 and 2006 I don't.

The Colts were definitely the best team in the league last year. Arguing otherwise is foolish, and wreaks of sour grapes and homerism.

I think the hype for this game will get going towards mid October, especially if both squads stay undefeated. Imagine a Colts/Pats match up where both teams have yet to lose? That game would be hyped more than the first round of the playoffs will be.

Edit- And all this "one game at a time" stuff is making some of you look foolish. Unless you play for the Patriots, whether or not you're thinking ahead has no effect on the outcome of the game, and Bill Belichick couldn't care less about who you're thinking of. I know fans like to pretend they're part of the team, but this is a message board, and the same people keep trumpeting this one game at a time stuff as if you actually are a member of the Patriots. You're not.

What the heck are you talking about? At least half of this board can immediately come up with "November 4th" upon mention of the Colts. Do you expect threads about it?

It's not THAT important. It's easily the most important game of the regular season in the entire NFL, but it's not a playoff game. We'll start threads about it when the time comes.

And I agree that I wish it were this week. NE is clicking right now. Peyton has yet to really get going. NE would kill Indy right now, the same way they're killing everybody.

And please, let's not even bother with strength-of-schedule discussions three weeks into a season.

All I was doing is making a comment about how a lot of the hype for the game had been forgotten in the past few weeks, a Pats fan made a comment on how the Pats would "dominate" so I replied to that post. I don't see the issue?

If the Chargers had beaten the Patriots do you think the Colts would have gone to SD and beaten them ? I don't. (well actually I do as we've since heard Rivers wouldn't have played but I think most get the point).

This is an appropriate response given that the original poster relies on the recent back to stake her claim as to which is the better club.

I am 100% confident we'll be back to putting up 30+ PPG against Indy - the last three times we didn't for reasons we know - a brutally decimated team 3 times ago and sh!t at WR the last two. Top WR = Indy playing straight up = Sanders not stopping the run = Patriots doing what they want. Indy will score but our defense will be pretty good and way improved over last year.

Injuries being equal = boring but happy 4th quarter for us.
