—Former Saints defensive end Joe Johnson has been chosen to enter the Saints Hall of Fame. He'll become the 35th person to be enshrined during ceremonies in early November.

DId you get that? Arguably the worst franchise in the NFL has Thirty-five (35) players/coaches/what have you in it's Hall of Fame. Can anybody name 35 good players in New Orleans history? Archie Manning. Pat Swilling. Ricky Jackson. Willie Roaf. George Rogers, although he's better known for being drafted ahead of Lawrence Taylor. Maybe Bum Phillips. After that we're getting into guys like Bobby Hebert and Wayne Gandy. Maybe they put Reggie Bush in already.

Seriously, this is like the Patriots, who have had much more success and 14 more years of history, (and 12 or so guys in their HoF), enshrining guys like Pat Harlow, Marv Cook, and Tony Eason.

And to satisfy my curiosity, I looked it up.

1988: QB Archie Manning, WR Danny Abramowicz
1989: S Tommy Myers, K Tom Dempsey
1990: QB Billy Kilmer
1991: NT Derland Moore, RB Tony Galbreath
1992: RB George Rogers, G Jake Kupp, C John Hill
1993: LB Joe Federspiel
1994: GM Jim Finks, TE Henry Childs
1995: DE Bob Pollard, DE Doug Atkins
1996: CB Dave Whitsell, DB Dave Waymer
1997: LB Rickey Jackson, T Stan Brock
1998: RB Dalton Hilliard, LB Sam Mills
1999: QB Bobby Hebert, WR Eric Martin
2000: LB Vaughan Johnson, LB Pat Swilling
2001: TE Hoby Brenner, DE Jim Wilks
2002: Coach Jim Mora, DE Frank Warren
2003: DE Wayne Martin, G/T Jim Dombrowski
2004: RB Rueben Mayes, Assistant Coach Steve Sidwell
2005-06: C Joel Hilgenberg*

---Ah...I see you beat me to the punch. They just elect 1-2 guys every year just to do it I guess. I know that the Patriots just had a fan vote to add Stanley Morgan, but I hope we don't continue to do it automatically. Luckily, thank to recent years, we should have some solid candidates.

There are two Patriots on the all time AFL team displayed in Canton Ohio. Pro football Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti is one. The other one isn't even on the Patriots Hall of Fame, though many of his teammates are.

Can you guess who this all time AFL team member is?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Houston Antwine.

.....

From Mora at the ceremony:

"Hall of Fame? Don't talk about...Hall of Fame? You kidding me? Hall of Fame? I just hope I can coach another game!"

When asked about what the honor meant to him:

"Seriously, the Saint's Hall of Fame doesn't mean diddley poo to me!"

Re: OT -- Unbelievable stat

What i think is incredible is the fact they went 20 years with out a winning record. No 9 -7 or 8-6 but they have a HOF, why on earth would you want to remember that.

Re: OT -- Unbelievable stat

How can Sam Mills not be on that list?

Hall of Fame is a relative thing. If I'm a Saints fan and I go there, I'm probably having fond memories of those 35 'pretty good' players. What are they supposed to do put a sign on the door -- accepting applications? Pay tribute to players on other teams -- you know, have a parade for a guy who went on to win a championship with another team ;-)

If the stories are good and the fans come, then what's the problem? Go Saints! What else does New Orleans have?

Re: OT -- Unbelievable stat

Come on! A team's Hall of Fame is for local morale and local consumption. Players that we might not have heard much about could have had an important impact on a Franchise.

Leave the poor New Orleanseans (?) alone. They have enough problems.

Damn, and I had some real good stones to throw too:(

People from the rest of New England and greater Patriot nation can deny that, but us Bostonians are stuck.

Gentleman...

Bobby Hebert is given the same reverence around those parts as Volvo and Saab are given around here.

I'm guessing 60-75% of y'all have owned said mobiles. Whatever you may think in retrospect, they were once fine machines, and as New Englanders, there was a reason to make the purchase.

Now multiply that by: had they been born and manufactured IN New England.

That is why Bobby Hebert is in the SHOF. It's love, pure love.

Think of it this way: How long did it take Stanley Morgan to get into the PATS HOF? Atrocity? Never would've happened.

PS: Jambalaya KILLS clam chowder.

I hear he's in the AFL Hall of Fame. And the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Quite possibly in the USFL and CFL HOFs too. Possibly every single HOF in existence except for the Patriots HOF.

Probably he just just threw away the letter marked "You may already have won entry to the Patriots Hall of Fame!!!" that the Krafts sent out. They shouldn't have used Publisher's Clearinghouse to send those letters. That would explain it.
