As I recall, he didn't play in last year's victory - Chad Scott started for him and Hank Poteat played the nickel. The best defensive scheme since the '05 Divisional Playoff against the Colts.

Bet Assante's looking forward to his nationally-televised primetime matchup with Chad Johnson.

The '05 Champ Game (04 reg season) was against Pitt and the divisionals was Indy (I agree a brilliant gameplan which featured a heavy dose of Troy Brown as a slot d-back)...

I gotta believe all the corners get fired up for games against the big-time receivers who get so much more attention by virtue of being an offensive player.

Asante better bring his A game.

I'm sad.

I can no longer find the postgame interview with WR Houzeyermama where he actually says "They knew they couldn't cover us, that's why they covered us like they did" (or something like that)

My all time favorite opponent denial quote..

Denial - hit the nail right on the head, more than anything the Bengals were in denial after they got beaten by the Pats last year, and they were never the same afterwards. We did catch a break, though, b/c Chris Henry had just begun his league suspension. But that was offset by Samuel not playing.

Yea, I think ASANTE is likely fired up for this meeting with CJ & TJ, as just about all DB's would be. Hopefully that INT and runback last week were signs of things to come from ASANTE.

As I recall Rudi Johnson was very respectful of our team and said something along the lines they took us to the back of the woodshed and beat us up.
So yes I recall TJ really in sad denial of just not who the better team was but wouldn't acknowledge we had a good game plan he said something along the lines they knew they couldn't cover us 1 on 1 so that's why they played like that.
Yeah your right TJ and we won.
Heres to winning another one in Cinci!

If I remember correctly Palmer pulled some of the old Kurt Warner "We beat ourselves" bit.

I remember when Chad Johnson had his weekly scouting segment of the CB he opposed segment on ESPN, he said that he and Samuel were friends and had a friendly rivalry.

CJ has had some dropsies lately. I would look for a huge game from him, as he tends to elevate his game against the best competition.
I'm not convinced that Samuel can cover him.
But I am as equally unconvinced that Palmer is going to enjoy great pass protection in this one, either.
The real equalizer will be IF Cincy can muster some decent stops on defense in order to allow Palmer and company extra chances to score.
If they can do that and our ST's can at least be average for once, I like our chances at home on MNF.
Otherwise, we're screwed.
