Felger called him the NFL's version of Woodward and Bernstein. Huh? I think he is the league's version of those Kennedy Assassination/9-11 conspiracy theorist wackos.

Easterbrook alleges that he has heard that the tapes the league destroyed had video of walkthroughs of the all three Super Bowl opponents and the league destroyed the tapes would show evidence that could tear down the league. He also thinks that there might have been evidence of other teams cheating and Goodell didn't want to have to take away more first round picks.

Easterbrook is dubious about why the league would destroy the tapes unless they had something damning, but Felger said he heard that the Pats asked that the tapes be destroyed after the investigation so that more tapes did not get leaked to the media.

I think Easterbrook is trying to gain fame by being the league's resident nutjob. Who actually reads his column otherwise? I know there is a small group of loyal followers of this guy, but he is on ESPN Page 2 for a reason.

Yeah, seriously, who is Greg Easterbook? I hadn't even heard of the guy. He's just a random ESPN d-bag desperate to make a name for himself.

I believe it might've been you who pointed out that the Super Bowl "walkthroughs" are pretty unimportant and that pretty much anyone can show up to those, like Snoop Dogg. Which is besides the point, I think the guy is full of shyt. If there was something damning on those tapes, Goodell would've punished us further, he's shown he could care less about how people view the Patriots, if anything, he was happy to take us down a peg.

He's a freak but you can't disprove a negative. He could say that the Patriots had the opponents' SB game plans on those tapes and no-one can prove otherwise.

I heard him and Felger both..both are major a**holes..why give them even a plug....I think GE is more like the guy who thought Kennedy wasn't dead..but brain damaged and living in a house in Maine...so it's NOT even conspiracy but way way out....extreme..and out there...

Gregg Easterbrook is a failed political/policy pundit who was too stupid and incoherent even for that gig, and that's saying something. This is just par for the course with him.

First of all, you can't video walkthoroughs at the Super Bowl because of NFL security. As a matter of fact, Belichick moved the Pats practice facility because he didn't think security was strong enough at the original site.

Why didn't Felger take this idiot to task with his crap? Usually he does. Second of Goodell has info other teams video taped teams, he has to take the picks away.

I'd like to hear more on Easterbook and this failed political stuff, I'll have to look it up...I really have no idea who this guy is

If Easterbrook is telling Felger that he heard this from inside NFL Sources on a radio program, the NFL has a continuing problem with their internal security... this seems to be a recurrant theme..

It's really sad to think this wack job believes that if we had tapes of Superbowl walk throughs we would have sent them to Goodell, kinda like bonus footage studios tack on when you rent a movie, when all he required we turn over were tapes related to defensive signals and any notes made regarding them...

If we did have video of our guy taping their guys taping our guys Goodell would have had to give back our first!

Sometimes the simplest explantation just is what it is. Kinda like it was with global warming. The really sad thing is Felger, a young reporter who was given a similar shot at insider status as another ESPN scribe, Greg Garber, and pissed it away would have this wacko on his show just to try to spike his bottom of the barrel ratings.

Demanding their detractors prove a negative is the conspiracy theorists' M.O.

But he also can't just make crap up, the Pats could sue him for libel or slander...err...one of those two, not sure which...I guess I didn't pay attention in the "You and the Law" class I took in 10th grade.

My impression of Easterbrook (granted I haven't read single article by him in years, I just got the impression of their contents from other posters here): Easterbrook is a pretentious cook. He began with an interesting schtick which had the life expectancy of pumpkin pie in #75's refrigerator. Nobody reads him, he's hanging on to his ESPN gig by his fingernails. He's screeching loudly just to survive.

Felger is pot smoking, dullwitted ditz, the type whose cloudy brain sends out conspiracy theories like so many smoke signals. I stopped listening to him last spring when he began railing against Randy Moss like a closet bigot.

Stop referencing them, citing them, and loonie tunes like Felger and Easterbrook, who should never have got into sports reporting to begin with, will wither and die in obscurity.

IMO sports reporting is best done by salt of the earth types with their feet on the ground, who have seen life's ugliness but still treasure the pure joy of athletics as a little glimpse of god. I get the feeling Easterbrook and Felger do not belong in that group, and never will.

He's actually a REAL writer

LOL, yeah, I've since read about him, notice two posts down I post the same wiki...Apparently he's also a REAL anti-semite and has some REAL messed up viewpoints. Sounds like a GREAT writer...

"can't video walkthroughs because of NFL security"

pause, next breath,

"as a matter of fact, Belichek moved the Pats practice because he didn't think security was strong enough"

Are you seeing the irony here?

Well, at least he does have thoughts and viewpoints. Priscoe, Pascarelli, those guys are hacks. Easterbrook may be wacko to you, but that doesn't necessarily make it so.

Bottom line again with you folks is, if it's anti patriot, it's sacreligious. It seems impossible to get much of an objective point of view from this area of the world.

Isn't Felger Jewish? I'm surprised he'd invite a noted anti-Semite like Easterbrook to appear on his show... wait, no I'm not. Felger, like Easterbrook, is a sensationalist with all kinds of conspiracy theories.

Which is why he cleverly couches his accusations with the words "I have heard that.......".

It's a very common legal technique.

Well said Pony! Easterbrook has achieved exactly what he was looking for by writing such drivel, futher exposure on talk radio. Lucky me, I've banned ESPN until they clean up their act.
