Say we keep Donte Stallworth Healthy. He is obviously a talent, but hasnt been able to do much for this team due to the presence of moss/welker...

Could perhaps Kelly Washington and Chad Jackson fill his shoes, and we trade Stallworth to say Houston for a second draft choice? Houston is HURTING for Recievers, and Stall is on a Team Friendly Deal. Imagine if houston had Andre Johnson and Donte Stallworth Lined up on opposite sides of the field? Especially against the Colts???

I think it would help ease the loss of our first rounder, and allow us to still have a ton of first day picks....

I think Stall is going to have a monster game in Cincinnati....that might only help us out...in trading him...

one question , what happens if moss gets hurt?? or welker gets hurt??? you dont spend all off season aquiring qaulity talent and depth to trade it away, get real you obviously are new to watching football

Chad Jackson = Bethal Johnson

This isn't baseball Beau where all the contenders reshuffle the deck chairs come deadline. It's a long way from the football trading deadline to the Superbowl, and championships are won and lost in December and January. Stallworth remains our #2 WR for this season and our #1 for next season or if Randy pulls that hammy or draws double and triple teams in December. Washington remains a ST'er who couldn't crack the top 4 of our WR unit either and was inactive due to injury in week 3. And our #2 and #3 pick from 2006 has yet to attend a TC for whatever reasons.

We still have SF's first rounder and a full slate of day 1 picks. We had 2 first round picks last season and we traded out of one and could only fit 2 draft picks on the roster this season. Our #1 WR from last season got cut when he couldn't crack this roster and nobody was willing to trade a late day 2 pick for him.

Draft picks are great and serve a purpose. But in season the bottom line is winning a championship THIS SEASON.

This whole Donte Stallworth trade talk is crap.. I know he is not having monster numbers like moss, but cmon... He is going to be heard from by the end of the yr.. I just think Moss and Brady are on a different page.. Stallworth will be a player by the end of the yr..

Why would you want to trade Stallworth? If Moss or Welker gets hurt we need him. Trading him would be stupid. We have a full deck of picks plus and extra third rounder. Yea we lost the extra first. But we still have more picks then a lot of teams.

and Stall is on a Team Friendly Deal.

The fact that he is on a team friendly deal, in my opinion, completely takes the possibility of trading him away (this season) off the table.

Imagine if you wanted to work for a company, they wanted to hire you, but you really didnt need the salary to survive, so you say "You know what, you can only pay me half what you think I should get, and put the other half to use hiring somemore people". Now if you were this nice to them, and they f'ed you over by transferring you to their texas office when you wanted to stay in boston, you'd be pissed. I imagine Stallworth would feel the same. The only difference is, most of us would never voluntarily take less than what we can make to work for a specific employer.

If we trade Stallworth, or Moss this year.....I can guarantee you that we won't be seeing any more players take bargain pay in the near future to play for us, since they'll be that aura of "Oh, they'll just use me to get trading chips".

Remember, Stallworth didnt take a lower than open market one year salary to play for houston. He took it to play for the patriots. I think trading him is puts the team in bad faith. Now, if we don't want him, I think cutting him is fair game since he could then go out and get the one year full market value contract. But we do want him, so its a non issue.

Stallworth might become important as the season moves on. They're going to have to shut down Moss and even Welker. Stallworth might become the target as we get deeper into the season.

I just think it is way too early to start talking trade for Stallworth.

He is going to have that big game that will make us all love him, but more importantly, he is always there as a legit deep threat if teams lay too heavy on coverage for Moss.

To me, for that alone, he is worth keeping.

That's what is going to make this year so delicious.

You have players like Stallworth, Chad Jackson, David Thomas and Kelly Washington being held back in reserve so far (for various reasons).

Incredible to say this, but the Pats have yet to bring out all the guns.

It is believed that the Pats were willing to trade ANY WR other than Moss before they cut Caldwell. Remember, you wouldn't be replacing Stallworth with Jackson, but rather with Gaffney and/or Washington. All the guys 3 to 5 would move up one and Jackson would only be there if Gaffney and/or Washington were injured.

As with any deal, it makes sense IF you get something in return. Not sure what they would think is good value for Stallworth given his recent history.

And similarly, they would trade Washington too I think, and then rely on Brown and or Jackson in the 4th WR role.

lets end this stupid trade talk, they dont happen in the nfl because it would take a half a year for a reciever to get on the same page as the qb and to learn the offensedoesnt happen wont happen end of story

I think the argument has som validity. We have drafted great in the past few years. If we can get a 2nd rounder, why not? We have a ton of depth. It's obvious that Moss and Welker are the #1 and #2 receivers and Gaffney can easily take over the 2nd outside WR spot.

i repeat mid season trades dont happen in the nfl you must be a baseball fan

It's a good thing they didn't trade before the season. Goodell might have taken the pick from them.

Trading a mid rounder to somebody like Oakland or Buffalo, a team going nowhere, for their punter wouldn't be the worst move.

Sorry, I don't think we will trade anyone. As pointed out, midseason trades are rare although becoming more increasingly popular. But it is hard to get value for a midseason trade especially for a WR where there is learning curve to pick up the new team's offense.

Stallworth was available before the season along with Gaffney, Washington, and Caldwell for a trade. No one came calling. Stallworth's option bonus will most likely scare off any potential suitors. His contract makes it very hard for anyone looking for a long term solution since his cap number is big in 2008. Anyone looking for a short term solution this year probably won't give up more than a late second day pick.

I would be surprised if we make a trade before the deadline.

Can't stand Baseball actually. Read my post, I said IF it were a possibility, it would be something to consider.

Chad Jackson = Bethal Johnson

Absolutely easy shot to take, and absolutely ridiculous, asinine, juvenile, ******ed. Newbies need not apply. STOP. And you spelled Bethal wrong.
