What a joke. These rankings have 0 credibility.

You don't leave the champs on top until they lose. 2006 is over.
Rank the best teams top to bottom...

Fox Sports Week 4 Power Rankings

man who cares i hate ALL journos, they NEVER get the FACTS right.

I thought it wasn't bad. The way I read it, the only reason the Colts are on top is because they are the defending champs and haven't lost yet. The Patriots read like the better team, and the blurb is much more enthusiatic. His silly rule will come crashing down soon enough and we'll be on top. In the meantime, I like being the underdog.

Until the Colts lose, they should be number one. They are the Champs!

And by the way, this isn't the BCS.

It doesn't matter!

Colts deserve it. They've beaten better teams, though not as convincingly, they've had our number recently, and they're undefeated.

The Colts look really good. Heck, the entire AFC South looks good. The only ranking I care about is the one at the end of the season.

Wow, some refreshing responses! Like you say, who really cares? It means squat. Certainly, Pats look polished already. Who'da thunk that 30+ PPG would look BAD! Your D looks nice too, but the bigger surprise (to those outside of Indy) is that Colts looked to be improved from last season as well. Opponents so far have been a little stiffer for Colts than Pats, but it will even out in the end. It is going to be an exciting race!

It's not a championship fight, it's power rankings. You're supposed to decide, not tell where they finished last year.

The Pats could be ranked #32 every week for all I care. As long as they're holding the Lombardi at the end, I'll be happy.

So are the Colts going to raise a banner for being #1 in the power rankings? :D

Until the Colts lose, why shouldn't they be #1?

Anyway, power rankings are pretty silly. Even if we were #1 it wouldn't mean a darn thing for our upcoming game.

The only Power Ranking that really matters is the one done after the Super Bowl. Who cares? When we were defending Super Bowl champs, we expected to be ranked #1 until we lost. I have no problem with the same standards for the Colts.

By this logic, all the division winners ought to maintain their respective position versus other division teams until they lose within the division.

Imposing an artificial rule like "until they lose they are #1" is stupid because it defeats the entire purpose of power rankings. Suppose Manning had suffered a season ending injury in the 59th minute of last week's game. Would the author still insist on the "#1 until they lose" rule?

Because they probably aren't the best team. When Elway retired should the Broncos have been the preseason #1 ?

In the three years that we were defending champs, I always thought we should remain number one until someone beat us. I don't see any reason to change now. And, there's only one "Number One" that counts and that's who's number one in Phoenix in February.

I disagree. A 1--32 ranking is different than eight 1--4 rankings. We're talking about a team that won a championship after a series of playoff games against the best teams from across the league, not who ended up on top after 16 games against different teams and with tiebreakers.

Who cares?

Besides, Indy is looking very good and has no huge net loss (although Glenn and June are losses; a healthy Sanders and adding Gonzalez are gains). We have lost to them 3 in a row (I believe), so until we win, we should keep some humility.

Manning's gaudy stats alone did not win SBs and TB's won't either.

LOL, the "purpose" of power rankings? What's the purpose? I'll tell you what it is...to give some "expert" something to do during the long week in between when the actual games are played.

Essentially, an untrained monkey has been picking games better than all of CBS's "experts" so far, except for Prisco, who is tied with the monkey.

ROFLMAO! This is signature line material! :rocker:
