I know it's a ways away but I'm curious to get some input on how we should match up and play Indianapolis on defence.

They look excellent, as we expected and we HAVE TO WIN this one-just like San Diego.

We have some sharp fans here on the board and I'd like to get some input, scenarios, match-ups etc....

No disrespect but no way do you look past the Bengals and all the teams before Indy. Not many will bite on your thread.

There are how many games till then??? Cinci is next...then Cleveland..it's when you look ahead that you trip and fall on your face..eyes on teh next game..Da bengals..

You do realize that you're not ON the team, right?

?????????????????????????????????
He's saying that people not on the team who look ahead do not impact the players preparation for the next opponent. So, if a fan wants to look ahead to a game, that's not going to cause the Patriots PLAYERS to fall on their face.

I agree with that. I think it's OK to discuss important future opponents strengths and weaknesses during weeks when there is little to say about the next opponent. I'd rather talk about the Colts than whether a hit was dirty or our Lombardis are tainted.

Imagine if both teams were going undefeated into this game? Would would be the most watched game again probably breaking non-superbowl viewing records.

Not to mention Dallas in 3 weeks, I know they are the NFC but they have looked better then Indi. Even Cleveland scares me on a short week, let's take this one game at a time.

I'm as superstitious as the next guy, I have my favorite T-shirt for game day, set my banner up on the loft, all those things that contribute to that all important karma.

But why can't we have a discussion of the Pats biggest playoff rival a few weeks before playing them? As someone pointed out, we're not actually playing on Sunday, so the t-shirts, banners, and karma, really don't matter. :)

So I'll bite. The Colts D seems to me fundamentally different than the other tough teams ahead: Steelers, Dallas, Ravens. The Colts are fast and swarming, which has occasionally been tough to run against, getting a hat on their LB's and safety. But that was pre-Moss. Their offense features two good TE's who are tough to cover.

I wish we played them next week, because with the team's health right now, the Pats would win by a comfortable margin.

As for the others, I don't think the Steelers here will be a problem. Dallas and the Ravens away could both be tough.

I would agree that this game certainly has me thinking, but at the same time Cincy and Dallas are two worthy opponents before we can even start thinking about Indy!

I haven't seen the Colts this year, aside from final scores. Any more info on what they look like so far would be helpful...

If the Pats have a weakness on paper right now (apologies to Jauron, but about a dozen teams must look like they have "no weaknesses" to the Bills right now), it's probably the secondary, which doesn't bode well vs. Indy (or Cincy, for that matter). But we should have Harrison back by Week 5...

On defense, are their schemes much different from last year? I seem to remember them playing a lot of Cover 2, which Moss is going to totally decimate, if they try that against the Pats.

Do the Colts get anyone like Seymour or Harrison back before the teams square off? Plus Asante finishes training camp and the receiving corps gets more time to gel. And we get to bask in the glory of it for the bye week. I think the timing of this game is great for us -- fans and players.

Seymour's definitely going to be back for the Indy game, right? Hope his knee doesn't hamper him too much.

As for Asante, I think the CBs (Samuel/Hobbs) have actually looked good so far - it's really the safeties that have been "untested" against the long ball, in my opinion.

I don't care about the superstition, my problem with the topic is that it is six games away! Both of these teams could look very different by then. It's like a 10-day weather forecast -- you can make your predictions, but they're pretty random. Once we hit mid-October and have a better idea of who these teams really are, the discussion will be a lot more worthwhile.

Some people believe in "Jinxing" the team & bad luck & all that. Stupid, but some people do worry about that stuff.

Me? Let's talk about the upcoming Super Bowl and who our opponent might be!:D

Dude, that's the kind of thing a coach tells his players, us fans can talk about Nov. 4th all we want. Makes zero difference in their preparation. Stop drinking the coach kool aid. (That goes for all NFL fans who say regurgitate the same nonsense)

You can babble all you want about this nonsense, and if Manning or Brady were to go down you would have wasted your time. That's why it's stupid to talk about it so far in advance.

The Colts should have Keiaho and Morris back probably by next week. And their bye week will be three weeks before we meet. Pats bye week isn't till after the Colts game. Make of that what you will.

Going to be a great game.
