Manning's 92.3 passer rating is fourth best in history. Brady's is seventh. “Pundits” insist that Manning is a statistical wunderkind who puts up unfathomable numbers and that Brady is a “system” quarterback who “manages” his team well. The Cold, Hard Football Facts have *****-slapped these beliefs up and down the side of the skull: The truth is that the statistical margin between the two quarterbacks is a lot smaller than most in the football world realize (or are willing to admit). If you insist that stats are all that matters, you better be prepared to give Brady his due. He, like Manning, is one of the most statistically dominant quarterbacks in NFL history – and Brady equals or exceeds many of Manning’s numbers at the same point in their careers.

They are both exceptional quarterbacks. The fact remains that there is not an objective test to determine who is the better QB. Even if there was a difference it would not be much.

just my 2 cents ..this debate is getting old and even CHFF knows it.Quite frankly , the quality of QB's we have in this league like grossman, harrington, boller etc...we should be thankful we have 2 of the great QB's playing at the same time in their careers instead of trying to merely pit one against the other.

Can we not just appreciate that they are both great?? This debate will never be won or lost or finished.

They are both Great no question, but the Colts Trolls are starting to come here and trying to rain on our parade.

Manning is great. Who cares? Love our guy. Would not trade him today for anyone.

Yeah the coldhardfootball facts there are spot on.

Manning has been on a team that was built for high scoring games, lack of defense, to sell tickets.

The colts were forced to play 2 minute offense all the time with 5 wide and their goal was to score on every possession or lose. Thats why they've only tallied one championship, but meaningless stats such as TD Passes in a season etc..

When comparing the two you're also forced to ignore post-season stats because Colts fans insist that those don't matter.

Summary.
If you want championships - Brady
If you want anything else - Manning

I'll take the higher number of rings. If Brady can improve his stats with the weapons he has now, terrific, but I think the focus is still on winning.

What Pat fan would trade Brady for any QB in the NFL? Not one, is my guess! With weak weapons Brady managed to win 3 Superbowls. With strong weapons, well, Brady looks pretty damned good, dare I say instoppable. I have always thought Brady was a better overall QB than Manning - Brady is a better leader and winner. Manning, I used to think was a better passer, but even now I am thinking I was wrong. Seeing Brady with Moss, Brady might even be a better passer than Manning and he has only developed 3 game worth of chemistry versus years that Manning has had with his weapons!

We know the answer to the question now, don't we? What would Brady do with weapons like Mannings??? But we will never know what Manning would do with weapons like Brady has had - 2 of those SB's with A. Smith at Running Back not to mention last years WR's!

Also, doesn't one of these guys play half their games in a dome???

Yeah, it's Brady!

Also in the South with his outdoor games....

Tennessee, Houston and Jacksonville...

11 of 16 games in good weather...

I am surprisingly impressed with Eli Manning this year. With his improvement and experience, I do think that gives hm the edge over Brady Quinn.

Only time will tell, though.

Good post. I agree. Both are very good. With Brady having some weapons, it's now fun watching the scroll to see how they compare as gameday unfolds. They were pretty close for awhile yesterday. Each had only missed 2-3 passes after there first 12-15. Close in yardage too. Then Colts ran it in, and Brady looked for Moss. Anyway, it's as if they are battling back and forth on gameday, and they don't know it. Brady is by far the frontrunner for MVP. He deserves one, hope he gets it.

When is the last time you were in the September heat of Miami? These guys can play in any weather. Stop with the dome crap!

Why? Domes make a difference! Brady has to work in the mudd, sleet, snow and rain not to mention fridgid temperatures. Manning has had little of that. It makes a difference. Perfect conditions make a difference to a QB and Manning has had an advantage.

We shall see. AFCCG will be in Foxboro this year hopefully so Polian cant turn up the heat this time.

We shall see if they can play in any weather.

Brady's recent success reminds us how easy Manning has had it all these years. Both are supreme talents, but Brady has a better ratio of production/WRtalent.

Sure there is.
The score is 3 to 1

I've read the article before, and I agree with it. Manning has been set up with a high powered offense for most of his career, and as such, as put up spectacular numbers. Whereas Brady has had to work much harder to get where he is.

ya can reverse it though, and say that Brady's success in Championships over Manning is due to having a strong defense to complement him. But since when did a good D increase your passer rating? Point is, Brady has always been a step behind Manning statistically. Yet it's a small step. And he's maintained it with a relatively less talented corps, up until recently that is. Now we're seeing him outperform Manning with the weapons he has currently.

I've always thought Brady was a better overall QB than Manning. The difference has been offensive styles and quality WRs. Our team is built around taking a lead then running the ball and having strong D. Colts are purely a passing team. On top of that, Brady has had to deal with mediocre talent (offensively) throughout his career, while Manning has had extremely talented WRs.

Well Now that Brady has better guys to throw to, he is just destroying everyone. Brady without weapons, slightly behind Manning. Brady with weapons, GODLIKE.

But when all is said and done, they are both 2 all time greats... But Brady has 3.... (4) rings.
