Wilfork's hit on Losman clean or dirty?

The replays sucked. I think his sticking out his elbow was intentional but not his going for the knee.

Wilfork may have played for Miami, but he's not the kind of guy to play like that under any circumstances.

I don't think he intended to hit Losman at the knees, but no one will ever know.

Vince will get fined. Easily.

Let me put my non-homer hat on.

It was intentional. There is no way he was trying to brace himself. You don't brace yourself by extending your elbow that far so you can land on your armpit.

We got penalized, he will get fined and luckily Losman looks OK.

Onto the Bengals.

I usually agree with you. But this time, I think you are wrong. If you look close he was hit by -- don't know -- was falling and tried to make a play. Instinct. No way if you watch closely was he trying to hurt the guy.

And I think you will see Losman play next week -- the question is, does Buffalo really want him to???

Anyone who thinks it was intentional didn't see the play from every angle, he was pushed from behind into Losman, there was no way that was intentional. Vince wouldn't pull that kind of garbage, this shouldn't even be a topic. It was an unfortunate situation but was by no means intentional.

I agree but my guess is the NFL fines him anyway. Thier fining people for all kinds of things these days.

If we're going to be the most hated team in the NFL, we might as well have them hate us while their QBs are on IR. That's two QB knockouts in three games.

Besides, Losman ran his mouth off last week, if I recall. I'm sick of these little whiners.

Was he trying to hit him with the elbow instinctually, yes. Was he specifically going for the knee? You're right, I don't know.

Needless to say it was still a penalty and looks questionable enough to generate a fine.

What the hell. Might as well fine him $500,000 and a first round draft pick, too!

Its the kind of call where in the NFL the way they protect the QB it should be called a penalty but I don't think its a cheap play by any means...

on real post game show...they said he was pushed or blocked into losman

None of that matters. Since it was the Patriots, it will be viewed as the dirtiest play in the history of the NFL.

Meanwhile we score our usual 38.

Don't see that happening. And one thing I really like about your threads, you are objective. Rare. I try to be as well, but still this time I think you are wrong. Penalty yes, fine, no.

If you look at the hit on Palmer you will see the difference. That was a cheap shot.

I've battled this question on a Jets forum. :bricks:

Wilfork is by no means known as a dirty player. Having said that he intentionally made contact although I don't think he intended to hurt Losman. Nevertheless it was a lapse in judgement was deservedly flagged.

Let's be honest, we'd be raising hell if a Bills player did that to Brady.

Why waste your time with the trash of the NFL? It's like arguing with mental patients.

I enjoy the digs...some of those guys are actually pretty funny. BTW I have the same BB avatar as you use here- they don't like it very much. :D

Vince should have had a clean shot right at Losman, but he was being illegally tackled about the legs as he surged forward. This made him pendulum down against Losman's leg, instead of a clean knockdown. He looked like a RB held short of a goalline TD.

That said, the league will penalize Vince, because it is the result that matters.

Of course, if he instead he missed Losman, and was injured by the player grasping his legs, you wouldn't even get a holding call.

I had it on my HD TIVO.

I re-ran it and you see a hand near Wilfork's ankle as Big Vince starts to fall. My impression is that someone he just beat on the O line tried to save his QB from being pancaked by Big Vince and ended up causing Wilfork to fall forward and low.

Otherwise, since Vince had already broken past the LOS, he would have squashed Losman into the turf.

I thought that Gannon's comment was not called for since he hadn't even seen a replay at that point.

Reverse the roles and picture someone hitting Brady like that and think of the uproar in this place.

He was definately pushed into Lossman, but he did not need to throw his forearm up.

He is going to get fined for that.

And he should.

I know I would be in a rage if someone hit Brady like that

Like Lee Flowers did in the 2001 playoffs to Brady? Or Milloy did to Brady during the final game of 2003?

Stuff happens. This was only declared illegal last year by our favorite committee.

Wilfork was clearly not even looking at Losman, and was clearly trying to brace his own fall.

The idea that this was a dirty hit is ridiculous.

Whether the Bills fans complain about it doesn't make it intentional.
