First off, from last week: the gameday thread on forums.chargers.com.

Especially humorous are some of the takes on SD's defensive "strategy."

This week: a look-alike thread on the Bills board.

There are a few mean-spirited ones, some ones that made me chuckle, and one "Ouch. Scoreboard." post (their words, not mine ;) ).

Thank you, thank you CTpf! What's so great is that 29 pages of trash talk ("Caint wait to kill the Pats" "Rip Brady's head off!") starts a rapid decline once NE takes it down the field ("Brady's getting too much time!" "THAT looked easy.").

Fantastic.

That Chargers thread was hilarity squared. They really have no idea what they are talking about.....it's all "run LT!" even when it's 24-0. It's like they think he can singlehandedly win a game.

What a pathetic group of fans.

That's great trash talk... seeing it cool down through the thread, only to have the fans resort to deluding themselves or hurling insults is classic

Felger actully put it well when he said "The Chargers are a supremely talented team that only lacks heart, brains and fortitude."

Tomlinson effectively admitted the same, noting that it was a "trap" game because they were playing a team motivated to win.

I guess Charger fans better hope no other teams in the NFL are motivated to win...

Actually I think I've found a team they can beat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1liTPa8jIS8

Hopefully it dawns on them how one dimensional their offense is. Rivers made it to the pro bowl (LOL) with his RB as his top TD receiver. Even when Brady was throwing to scare crows he distributed the ball better than that.

If you can slow down Gates and Tomlinson (no small feat to be sure, Gates was still making plays on our defense) than what do they have to fall back on?

I think even with Norv as coach they'll still have a good season, but honestly, people know what LT and Gates can do. They need some receivers and a half-decent secondary to even have a prayer of going deep into the playoffs.

My fav part of the Bolts thread was the excitement of their drive before the Thomas pick-6. All of a sudden there were several pages of RIVERS SUCKS! & FIRE NORV!!! How do you spell FRONT RUNNERS?

I loved the part where, after Olivea was hurt, they were all wondering who the team's 2nd-string right tackle was! A couple of people had guesses, but after they settled on an answer it turned out that guy wasn't even active for the game.

To the handful of genuinely knowledgeable SD fans who post here -- that's how your fan base gets its reputation.

My favorite was "how can anyone beat the Patriots? They get away with murder and never get called." Yeah, the dominant offensive effort was because we were committing a lot of penalties and getting away with them!!

My favorite (paraphrasing slightly):

"Apparently the Chargers are going with the Cover Who? defense."

I loved that! Also, the repeated mentions of "This is just like the Cincy game from last year!"...like everything was going according to plan or something. Although I do give credit to the few posters who realized, "This isn't Cincy's defense."

And there are indeed some great, knowledgeable SD fans. I've seen a few over here, but I didn't see any in that game thread.

As far as the Buffalo thread is concerned, I tend to agree with the poster there who said that Buffalo will play hard.

History tells us that's the case - even in their worst years, Buffalo has often given us a helluva game.

I'd prefer to prepare for that, and overwhelm them, than assume they're going to play as poorly and uninspired as the Chargers.

As Buffalo is a divisional rival, there's a much different flavor to this game than the blustery, media-driven hype of the SD "revenge" game. I agree Buffalo will play hard. I also can't help remembering last year's game and the very first play....it took us by surprise.

I doubt that anything like that will happen this year, but I don't ever like the idea of looking past a division rival.

The SD post were way too funny.

my favorite line was "Thats the cordtrell's COVER WHO?? defense" or something like that:)

At least the Bills fans aren't front runners. How could they be? Their fans are with the team through thin and thinner! We better not be looking beyond them this week. And I hope the Bills kick some Dolphin & Jets butts!

Some of their cariacutures of Pats players were pretty funny. You know Buffalo must be a happening town to spend so much energy satirizing Willie Andrews, Corey Mays and Pierre Woods.

My favorite = "Hopefully that doesn't happen again but that was awful, our defense is better than that or at least that's what we all say around here anyway"! LOL!!!!

Favorite unintentional humor line: "C'mon Rivers, pass to the guys in white"

STILL LAUGHING

BTW, I have no problem with the Bills look-alike thread--it's a staple of theirs, and intentional comedy! (And for some reason the idea of matching Adalius Thomas with Mikhail Gorbachev cracks me up.)

That San Diego thread is priceless, look at how high their hopes were and how quickly we smashed them into the ground.
