by the NFL or is it just a show of good sportsmanship?

We all know the hype for the post-game meeting between BB and Mangina on 12/16 will be at level above and beyond all handshakes thusfar.

I'm just curious as to whether the hand-shake is a league requirement or is it just a tradition? BB will be in a no-win situation, that I'm sure he couldn't care less about.

A flip of the bird and an F You should suffice, but I'm guessing the league frowns on that.

If he doesn't shake, BB's a poor sport. If it's a quick shake-and-go, he's petty. If it's a "genuine" handshake, he's conniving.

Just curious as to what's required.

No, I don't believe it is required. It's just a customary gesture of sportsmanship, and draws more attention when it's not done.

I thought about this too. If I were BB, I'd do the handshake as formally as I could. Anyone complaining that it's too frosty probably has their head too far up their own ass to be taken seriously anyway.

They should have it like baseball, when the Red Sox win they simply line up with EACH OTHER and slap/shake hands. To hell with the opponent, they are the enemy, this isn't croquet it's football.

I wouldn't expect BB to do anything else but shake. But it did get me wondering what the protocol was.

I know what I would do :)

I hear BB's been preparing for the next handshake

It will be December.

Everybody in new England has runny noses in December.

He could go for the old "green-nasal-mucus-blown-into-the-hand-just-before-the-clasp" type of shake.

BTW, think he'll shove another media arsehole out of the way? That was awesome! He basically hand-heeled that dude right in his camera lense!

(Camera and Belichick make some bad energy, don't they?)

I remember once that former Steelers coach Chuck Knoll pointed his finger in another coach's face (Buddy Ryan?) and told him off during the handshake. I think BB just shakes his hand and walks away.

Buddy Ryan never shook hands. He just waved in the direction of the other

coach. I expect BB and his veteran players will give one finger waves after

the next Jets game. How can BB be a good sport after the crap Mangini has

forced him to endure? He'd be a hypocrite to shake Mangini's hand.
