Patriots should forfeit a game

He make the usual idiotic points that BB and Kraft are rich, so the money is hardly a penalty (I bet none of these writers making $50K a year would want to give up a 1000 bucks though, would they?)

His second idiotic point is that since the Pats have such great players, the 1st round draft pick penalty won't be felt for years, if ever. So because the Patriots did a good job drafting and picking up guys in FA and training and forming a team, we should get penalized more than if the Raiders did it.

His grand finale is that the Jets-Pats game should be overturned, giving the Jets the win.

He must not of heard that it had no affect on that game. Why should the Jets get a win for something that had nothing to do with the outcome. They didn't overturn the miami game we lost where they had our audio. That did effect the outcome of that game. Christ, we'll be hearing about this forever just like the tuck game.

Putting aside the fact that it is a completely rediculous notion of over turning a game that was so one sided due to such a lame violation. Can you imagine the ramifications at the end of the season if the Jets made the playoffs over another team that actually won games based upon a commisioner over turning a result from a played game.

the score not been 7-7 at the time the camera was confiscated.

There will be no overturn of any game except under extreme circumstances in any pro sport...period. It doesn't matter who the team is.

I disagree. That might be true for illegal activity but there would be law suits in Nevada and every other place that betting was legal. I don't know what the laws are in this case but I'll bet they would be challenged.

Any lawsuit filed would be dismissed in 3 seconds. The rules are quite clear: An after-the-fact forfeit does not affect payment of the wagers. The Commissioner could declare a Patriots forfeit today and tomorrow you would still be able to collect if you had a wagering ticket for the Patriots over the Jets.

With all due respect, don't you think the sportsbooks have actually thought of the fact that such a thing could one day happen..? And that they have established rules governing the consequences of a forfeit...? As I said before, forfeits have happened before in the college ranks, and it did not affect the sportsbooks one bit. Even a gambling scandal would not affect games and payments already decided.

Well the first one that comes to mind is UMass being forced to forfeit their Final Four run from about 10 years ago... Southen Methodist University, I believe, had to forfeit games when they received the NCAA "death penalty" in the late 80's... Just recently, the University of Oklahoma had to forfeit their entire 2005 season or something like that...
