Overall I'd rather it hadn't happened, but their are some positives from this:

1. In a year where they are the favorites to win it all, they've suddenly been given the best "us against the world" reasoning they've ever had. So now we have the most talented, savvy, confident Patriots team ever with the best motivation ever.

2. For the rest of the season, the issue will be a bigger distraction for the teams we play than for our guys. Witness the security measures taken by San Diego. Every team we play this year will have this issue enter their consciousness, and none of them will be as good at setting it aside as are the Pats. It will be in their minds as they prepare for the Pats, and as they play them. We could have naked cheerleaders show up at their practices and not get this much benefit from it.

3. The Jets and Mangini are permanently harmed. The chemistry between the current players and their coach will never be the same. And they will be under a spotlight, searching for hypocrisy, because they cast the first stone. And you know the Patriots will make sure that spotlight stays on for quite a while.

4. that now other teams will be more hesitant to spy...so it will be more coach against coach....and we have the best coach!

5. Has more or less taken all the spotlight off Rodney, allowing him to serve his suspension without much talk.

I would say rather than coach vs. coach, it will be team vs. team. And we have the best TEAM! F*ck! It's week 3 and we are hitting on all cylinders. No slow start here. None of this bullsh#t about team needing to gel. F*ck yeah! :rocker: :rocker: :rocker:

SOMEDAY ... although there is scant sign of it yet ...
better-balanced pundits will begin to see this in perspective.
Contrition, embarrassment, and atonement will encourage them to say things more positive
... perhaps even leaning over a bit backwards to compensate.

Not only that....I have this funny little vision of Rodney during his time off organizing press clippings and gathering steam. When he's not working out, of course.

6. It gives us an opportunity to realize who are the stand-up realists who know this whole thing has been completely overblown. Guys like Sean Salisbury, Ron Jaworski, Howie Long, Brian Urlacher, Herm Edwards, etc.

7. It gives us an opportunity to realize who are the naive, self-righteous scumbags who feel this is more horrific than killing dogs. Guys like Chris Collingsworth, Mark Schlereth, Hines Ward, Tony Dungy, Steve Young, etc

8. It was the cause of the leak on BB's extension. No more loading up for his last year BS at least.

one big positive is it will be much harder for the Patriots to cheat this year.

I think your list makes excellent points. While I agree I would rather it didn't happen, it certainly seems to be having a galvanizing effect on the team. And I certainly don't mind Mangini being the league's pariah :D

But since all they were doing is "stealing sign" and probably more importantly, observing the quickness of the opposition to make plays calls, it won't hurt the Pats. I WANT more genius moves like Norv Turner pulled.

To prevent the Pats from using hyperspace and an alliance with the Aliens from Area 51, and stealing his game plan, he didn't have ONE ! That really showed them.. About 38-14 it showed them...

I think we have already seen the benefits of what Bill was doing. Once he got the Jests to get penalized by an early snap. But ManJudas did it to the Pats twice.

This looks and sounds like English, but I am having a really hard time understanding what you just said.

Those were defintely english words, but I didn't recognize their meaning either. Then again, Pats fans have been known to consume an adult beverage from time to time.

9. I think we kind of put to rest that whole "They hate their Coach" thing of a couple years back.

Let me simplify it for you, kid. You guys suck. Enjoy your descent into mediocrity.

We're going to knock you out of the playoffs. If someone else doesn't first.

It's taken the attention away from Shawn Merriman's cheating....

Oh wait, that's a BAD thing.

Thank you for the comedy. Will 'you' have a new coach by then, or is God going to somehow fashion another miracle?

52. with Belichik being fined $500,000 he can't afford another girlfriend in another teams front office this year. It will give him EVEN more time for coaching.

53. Now that they have an assistant who doesn't need to spend the entire game video-taping they can use him for other things; like finding out what the rival fans are saying so that the team has a reason to go out and play. OR he can man the snowplow in case they need a last second kick and it's snowing...

54. The O-line can focus on their Beard growing abilities again.

55. If the patriots fall apart and fail to reach the playoffs they won't lose a 1st round pick.

56. BB can now only use the Headset jammer when he REALLY needs it. Not just whenever the lions are tearing his defense a new one...

57. He can fire a lot of his now useless video staff, and then promptly change the locks...

58. Everyone has forgotten about Brady's bastard baby. (i can't blame him. She is hott, but i guarantee she's crazy. PLUS she was WAY to much into NY)

59. No one will remember to check if rodney is still taking Performance enhancing drugs that are undetectable.

60. Chicks dig cheaters.

61. F#$% Adam Vinatierri!!!

62. BB can spend more time contemplating ways to call Ted Johnson a P@##% for not playing through the pain.

63. BB is now free to show the world that his secret video shows that Champ Bailey really did FUMBLE!!

64. If BB didn't know about the Video rule, There is no way he knew about the tuck rule...IT WAS BULL****!

65. They will ned a third QB since they will no longer know when the opposing team will blitz. This might mean more injuries!

66. BB can know end every press conference early after complaing that the medi only wants to talk about the LARGEST fine, and PUNISHMENT in NFL history. Who do they think they are!!! Ask him questions about the LIONS!
