Is it me, or has Samuel lost a step?

He hasn't been the CB everyone (cept me and a handful of others) was pining for this offseason. Maybe he should have attended training camp and he wouldnt be so far behind in trying to make a statement on why he needs to get paid top corner money.

Hes fallen behind Hobbs and Gay as of right now.

He'll be fine. He missed camp and he's probably a bit slow getting back but I'm not that concerned. He should have had an INT on Sunday on a deep middle throw.

give him a few games to get his feet back under him, he'll be fine when we really need him

Don't worry. It's you.

Just shaking the rust off, is my bet.

Agree, he'll be okay. But people who expect him to be like he was last year I think will be disappointed.

He had a monster year, for sure. But I don't think his year was indicative of his general playing ability. He's been solid, not spectacular, just as I expected.

Like somebody mentioned, if he had made that pick it'd be awful hard to make the case that he's lost anything. Like somebody else said in a different thread, for a corner like him to go unnoticed all game is a good thing.

Plus he's still improving. Remember what BB said in response to that instead of the usual dodging during Week 1: in Asante's case he flat out said that no, he's not at the level of the other players and no one should expect him to be. Yet.

As far as I can recall they threw at him once the entire game.

I wasn't an Asante supporter but because he hasn't made an INT after two keeps means he has lost a step? He didn't get an INT last year until Week 5.

Lost a step? um....

Rivers threw 29 passes sunday and I can only think of one that was thrown Asantes way, a long ball he almost picked.

Much like the playoff game, SD decided not to challenge Samuel....

Yeah, I really couldn't tell if he's lost a step either considering, as the above poster mentioned, SD avoided Asante like the plague.

he's fine. Pretty good for no training camp.

He also almost had a pick on a long pass last game too, but he dropped it.

if he would have had that pick i don't think you would have asked this question.

Well, I'll say this. He's not starting. He's not dominating.

What other NFL player that makes $500k per game is seeing so little of the field these days?

The Patriots should get a little bit of refund.

And you KNOW that the main reason Asante was mad that he didn't intercept that ball is because he wants to build his stat line.

Anyone know how many of the defensive snaps he played on Sunday??

I know Gay was the "starter" but this is meaningless in terms of downs played.

If it is a high percentage, then that means Asante was doing his job. I can't recall yelling at him through the TV at all, except for the ball he whiffed on.

I guess we can't ever just support our team. We're as bad as the media on here all trying to be the first to "call something".

It sure doesn't seem like he's lost anything to me.

This post will go away after the Buffalo game, when a new thread will be posted, can we sign Asante to a new deal.

Well, it's better than the trade Moss or cut Colvin threads.....o, and the 20,000 videogate threads.

Your right. I'd even go for one of those Stevenation posts.........well maybe not.

Well, that settles it. Sante truly has lost a step. Thanks for playing, homers.
