A quick way for the NFL to mitigate any signal stealing issues ........

Eliminate any and all hi tech communication from the rulebook and encourage teams to have their own players call the plays. Just like it used to be.

If teams can't, or won't, have their own players call the plays then they can send them in by hand and risk having them found out. Just like in the old days.

With Brady at QB and the weatlh of experienced LB's on this team we'd have no troubles adjusting. In fact, we would be one of the teams most benefitting from such a directive.

Bradshaw, Kelly, Marino , Stabler all called their own plays. So it wasn't that long ago it took place.

Guys like Brady, Manning, and Pennington could all call their own games. They have all of the plays for the game on their wrists as it is. And I'm sure most of the Pats LB's could do so on that side of the ball.

Other teams might struggle with this but too damn bad.

Teams will then be accused of jamming signals and employing MIT students to steal the signals .....

It's easier simply to wash you hands of it entirely and let the teams fend for themselves.

The logistics would be tough, since only 1 player on D at a time would be allowed a radio, and this could mess up the D rotation.

OR..aloow 2 3 have the radios...given the rough and tough aspect of defense, I wonder if the radios would work all the time..OR have only 1 and only do hand signals when needed. The rotations on D will always stay now.

you put a wristband on the MLB and the QB and call the plays from the sideline and you have some duplicates so even if the oppostiion sees you signal play"25" it won't be repeated. You change the wristbands every quarter and there's no need to worry about anybody stealing signs....

I mean only one defender at a time on the field, like on O only one guy at a time (the qb), on defense the signal caller (guy with radio) subsitutes more and seems you could end up with out anyone on the field with a radio, or maybe 2 to 3 guys at once with a radio, the D guys would have to be changing helmets alot.

Maybe let everyone have a radio.

I like the idea of letting a team film whatever it wants from anywhere, seems it is going to be hard to police filming.

The best solution to not causing a potential issue with stolen signals is to keep the signals only in the minds of the players. Well, unless Kreskin is at the game that is.

Not if you keep a velcro cover on top of it....I can read the OC/DC playcharts on a high def TV. If I still image it, print it and send it to my favorite team, is that cheating???????

The NFL already is monitoring the radio communications. They could monitor frequencies, signal strength and access without disrupting thier current MO too much. If the signal goes dead for one team, it will be disallowed for both until it can be fixed. Then they can reverrt to past practices.

This entire issue would disappear. Buh-bye...

Or you could only have league paid and trained video/audio crews at the game. They could be trained to not record anything that is considered "in violation of competitive integrity". A team could have these league guys record (at the team's expense of course) anything they want within league guidelines...players, coaches, cheerleaders, whatever. The league archives the tapes (in case an investigation is needed) and gives the team a copy after the game. That prevents cheating and gives teams that are willing to work and prepare harder a leg up on the competition.

Know why this will never become reality? Because Tony Dungy and Jeff Fisher and others don't want to work 20 hour days to keep up with the competition. Better to limit the information available to every team to keep competitive balance at a more reasonable level.
