I'm not sure if you can say that for sure yet but i think if he was fired or released maybe he'd choose a college team or something to go to and be in charge of instead of returning to the Patriots.

Totally agree on part B -- even before the whole camera fiasco, I posted here that I couldn't imagine a guy like Crennel, with 25+ years as an NFL coach, deciding to serve as an assistant to a young whippersnapper who used to be his assistant. And of course it's even less conceivable now.

But I disagree on part A. Crennel hasn't worked at the college level since 1980. I don't picture him wanting to change course and start traveling the country to woo high-school kids. If I were him I'd look for an NFL position where I felt comfortable with the rest of the coaching staff and organization. After 3 years in Cleveland, enough tsoris.

Eric had a hard time assembling a staff to begin with, as I recall. I have a feeling what has transpired has not only validated the underlying concern so many veteran coaches had about joining him in NY, it has made it far less likely that when he fails as the HC of the NYJ he will pop up as a DC anywhere at least in the short term.

I would think his returning to the pats could only coincide with Pees leaving to take another job somewhere. The Pats D is strong, so I can't see BB inserting RAC back so long as Pees is still around.

Love of the game? BB as well as many others have stepped back from head coaching (from Cleveland back to parcells) and returned as OCs and DCs.

Understood - and I know some guys coach into their 60s or beyond - but he's not 45. I think this is his last job, we'll see I guess.

Personaly I would take RAC on the Jets in a heartbeat.

Lots of speculation out there, but I am not convinced that Rac, or 90% of the head coaches have a problem with either Mangini or BB.

Romeo as HC of the NYJ? I don't see him taking that. If anything he comes back to the Pats as a position coach with an assistant HC title to it, not unlike how Parcells brough BB back to NE after Cleveland.
