You have a HOF QB and head coach who have already won 3sb's.

You have a young exciting RB

A top 5 WR corp in the NFL with the best WR and most exciting the Pats have ever had who they got in the steal of the century.

A young top 5 d-line.

An aging but exciting LB core with Adaulius and Colvin.

A team who has the best chance since the Dolphins to go undefeated.

Is this the most exciting Pats team ever?

It's only week two............relax bro. There is a LONG WAYS to go and plenty of opponents to get past.

I'd certainly say so.

As good as the Patriots have been during this dynasty, they haven't always been incredibly exciting. Their offense and wide receivers have always lacked the explosiveness a Randy Moss brings to an offense and Maroney is more "exciting" to watch and a back like Dillon who will just pound the ball down their throat non-stop. Stallworth's ability to go deep will be pretty exciting later in the year when he starts to get more balls thrown his way. Wes Welker is just fun to watch, what a player.

I'd also guess that's not the last time we watch Adalius outrun receivers (or running backs) for a long, defensive score.

Very exciting team with a very explosive offense. It's going to be a real fun year.

Brady to Moss is awesome. I will cry if Moss gets injured. I wanna see a full season of this.

I'm thinking Moss puts up 20+TD, 1500+YDS. Brady and Moss co-MVPs.

I've followed every football team they ever fielded, and not only does this team have the potential to be the best Pat team ever, if they stay healthy and play like they have been, it has all the elements necessary to to be the best NFL team ever to play the game.

Focus
Skills
Speed
Smarts

I couldn't agree more. This Patriots team is loaded, they have quality and depth at virtually every position, offense and defense. And "videogate" just gave them a bit more motivation to go out and prove to everyone else that their success of the past was completely legit. Just imagine Goodell buffing that SuperBowl trophy one last time before handing it to Belichick, saying:"..No hard feelings, right?..", and BB answering: "...Ahh..well..you can have that 32nd pick overall, it's like picking in the second round anyway. But thanks for the effort, you are almost as much responsible for this title as I am." Then with Goodell's face turning red, and his smile turns into a grimace, BB lifts the trophy with Brady.

With this kind of motivation they can win 10 in a row at least, even challenge their own record of consecutive reg. season wins of 18 (current streak at 5, with 3 dating back to last season). I would love to see this happen. Especially to piss off all the fairweather fans of other teams, who would like to see the Pats disappear from the face of the earth, so they can cheer the blah-blah Colts or Chargers with their 15-second attention span.

On paper this team is simply amazing. No other team has ever nor will ever come close to matching the cumulative talent in the salary cap era.

Top 3 at the following positions (a lot of top 1's):

Scouting/personnel
Coach
QB
WR
SS
DE
ST's

If the entire team were healthy and the entire team were able to play, the weakest part of the team would probably be running back. The weakest part of your team consisting of LM and SM. It's craziness

Of course we alllll know that paper is flammable and this one is always being held behind a torch, one slight shift in the wind and bye bye. That's why we play the games baby!

I know I'm completely nitpicking here, but the DB's could be better. Frankly speaking I don't see the Pats completely shutting down the Colts. And I wouldn't trust my life on the K. If they need to make a 45yd FG to win a playoff game....

Of course, if the offense keeps scoring TD's and completely destroying the other team, who cares?

I realize its early and we may break our hand patting ourselves on the back, but hey we need a feel good thread.
In my 40 years as a fan this is by FAR our best team.
But our very best team will come on week 7 after AT (+RH +TB) returns.
At the start of the year I respected a lot of our opponents. (Still do).
The only remaining tossup game on our schedule is INDY.
My prediction was 15-1 then 18-1.
But hey IF we beat INDY,If we stay healthy, we could be the best team ever.
Period.
So far Brady is having a career year in accuracy and rating.
So far Moss is playing like a Probowler. (I am not holding my breath for us to have any selections)
So far we have dominated 2 playoff teams from last year in almost every way.
So we should be optimistic and expect the best.
Lets just hope that Moss resigns (with a small hometown discount):rocker:
FEAR THE PATRIOTS:eek:

A whole lot more than DB's goes into stopping the passing attack, especially the Colts. Harrison, Wilson, Hobbs, Samuel, and Gay is, IMO a premier group of DB's in the NFL. Not the best, but definitely top 5 in my mind.

Against a team with a great qb and passing attack such as the Colts and Manning, it's extremely rare that you will shut that down. The best you can do is to keep everything in front of you and force them to make long time-killing drives to get points. Third down pass rush up the middle is KEY.

You simply can't defend the colts WR's man to man all game unless you are in peyton's face right away every snap. The amount of time Manning, Marvin and Reggie have had together and how in sync their offense is as a whole gives them an advantage if you play them the wrong way.

Good point, but more importantly...PHENOMENAL User Name. Fantastic. Very SOSH.
