After watching the NFL Today and Fox...listening to Jimmy Johnson, Bill Cowher, Barry Switzer, Howie Long, and Keshawn Johnson...it's pretty safe to say this notion that the Pats had an advantage is just bull$****.

End of Story.

Re: Pats are cleared

Wish it was that simple, but this will never be let go...Its starting to make the Lisa Olsen incident laughable...

Re: Pats are cleared

Nah, we still violated the rule by using the video camera. But I have to say, after seeing the footage, it just seems kind of lame to me. You can see that stuff with your own eyes from the sidelines.

Re: Pats are cleared

Yes...football fans MAY understand that...but for John Doe, the Pats will always be guilty of cheating...until someone in the mass media has the guts to expose the myth in full it will not change.

Do us all and yourself a favor Sean by taking your long predictible over the edge emotions out for a long walk. And when you come back in, stay off the computer - you simply can't deal.

The Lisa Olsen incident WAS laughable. What do you expect from a sports locker room? Anyone who's played a sport in their life, from peewee to the pros, knows what goes on in locker rooms. Now add a woman reporter to the equation and people were really surprised about that? It doesn't excuse it, but was it really a surprising event? Nah, and it's sort of funny, too.

Re: Pats are cleared

Goodell has his teeth into this and believe me it's going to get worse, a lot worse, before it gets better. Strap yourselves in Pats fans because we are going to feel emotions in Patriots Nation that we haven't experienced since the start of this great run. We've lost the moral high ground. They're all gonna come after us from every angle and they're going to enjoy it.

It's a football game, not a political campaign.

All we need to do is play football, not wait for Dungy to get caught with a wide stance in a stall.

This one nails it -- sad but true. Around the corner is the next bitter ex-player, coach etc with somethign to say.

You're not the shapest knife in the drawer are you?

Re: Pats are cleared

I have seen and read NOTHING to indicate the League's investigation of the Patriots continues. I've only seen that they want any notes and video we had previously because of our rule misinterpretation.

The media bloodbath will continue until it gets played out. It's hard to believe, but it's really only been a week.

Re: Pats are cleared

Similar to the thread titled "Belichick may have to reason," this thread-title is confusingly definitive sounding. PLEASE let's try to be careful with how we phrase things.

Where are Boston's crack Patriots beat writers? They're good a piling on and bashing BB, but when you really need them to drill into something they're in Foxboro snickering and loading up their plates at the pre-game buffet. Now that Breer is gone our only hope is Mike Reiss. Come on Mike get the real facts here.

What do they feed you trolls?

What do they feed you trolls?

Trolls? Now they have us fighting amongst ourselves. If sitting here with a Pats hat and Seymour jersey on with three Pats web sites open and on this one that I have been a member of for over four years makes me a troll then I misunderstood its use on this board and others. Take a look at my profile and posts and then get back to me.

Re: Pats are cleared

Thanks, Nordy, for changing the title. I appreciate it a lot.

We need to win to shut the mouth of the naysayers...Let just move on put our nose to the grind stone,f--k them...

Dude , your way out of line, this thing has gone so overblown, its disgusting... You want to have blinders on and say everything is all right, that is your opinion, but what is suppose to be the best ever Patriot season is being ruined by something so stupid... Like I said I wish we could just talk about how we could talk about stoping LT and Gates, and how we are going to throw all over the field on the chargers, but every where you go you hear about video gate..

I have intentionally not posted on this forum this week, and I'm sure you'll all tell me to continue to follow that trend in the future, but I've seen this kind of rationalizing so many times I just have to ask the question.

If filming the opposing team's coaches yielded NO meaningful competitive advantage, the WHY did Belichick do it? Why risk being punished by the league and tarnishing the awesome reputation he had built if using the camera gave him no advantage? Why?

I don't want to pile-on because I know this whole thing has nothing to do with Patriots fans and you guys are hurt more by this than anyone else. But I'm just seeing so many people acting like there's no advantage to using the camera and that makes me wonder why Belichick was doing it in the first place.

I think you're confusing the timing of when such an advantage would come in. It purportedly yields no competitive advantage during the game being played, but conceivably COULD yield one in the future. Jimmy Johnson didn't feel that it gave him an advantage, but apparently noted that he did it for years.
