I'm not sure if there have been any threads on this specific issue. I looked throught the first 3 pages of threads and couldn't find anything. So, here goes...

I've heard so many fans knock the Patriots organization, our player and worst of all, our fans...us! I often visit both the Colts and Chargers fan sites and this is what I here; Patriots fans are arrogant, rude and classless. And this was BEFORE cameragate!

I don't want to discuss whether we are any of these things because to me, it's not important and really just not a big deal. What IS a big deal to me is whether some Patriots fans agree and/or care about our reputation.

To me, reputation & image are imaginary...they just don't exist. Like the man who works so hard on his image, he loses sight of who he is. Look at the guy who gets his hair cut every week, wears impeccable clothing and is always attempting to act & say just the right thing just to build his image. To me, that's the definition of being a phony.

I think Patriots fans are the best fans in the country because I'm a Patriots fan. I'm proud to call myself a Patriots fan and always have been. Even when we stunk. I love being a part of Patriots Nation. I love the history of Patriots fans and the 40+ years of my life I have cheered for the old & new Pat Patriot. All these great memories make being a Patriot fan part of who I am.

And because it's part of who I am, I will never feel shame in being a Patriots fan, Patriots Pride is all I know.

I live in Tampa and frequent a message board for the Devil Rays and was shocked to see how much they hate Boston and New York fans. They call us rude, drunken asses.

I thought maybe they saw something I didn't and then I saw their responses to this whole camera story and realized that they are just a bunch of stupid homers who can't see the forest for the trees.

I try to be objective regardless of which team I root for and even in that objectivity I can now say F THEM. I'm a fan of the Patriots and if someone doesn't like it they can kiss my big bostonian ass!

I call the Red Sox for doing stupid crap all the time (hello JD Drew) so I am not blinded by my love for my teams. This whole story is just a media created load of crap.

Why did you choose a Patriots avatar when you're not a Patriots fan. you make it so obvious that you just joined and are pretending to be a Pats fan.

I know and accept everything that has happened and also know BB is a scapegoat. Is he arrogant, absolutely!! And that's why I love him so much!;)

What happened just isn't a big deal at all...It's just the illusion created by the media

Never stop being a Pats Fan, wear my stuff proud.. this will be in time just a blip on the radar.. there are bigger fish to fry.. unfortunately, the Boston Press has gotten way too much mileage out of this and are missing the boat completely.

Most fans of teams don't rabidly read/post on message boards about their times. We are a very small slice of Patriots fans, just like they're a very small slice of Chargers/Indy/Jets/whatever fans.

Do you know anything about polls? Most polls use a very small sample of people to project the attitudes and beliefs of a demographic area...in this case, Patriots fans.

Since that is what I do for a living, I can tell you with certainty that the attitudes of Patriots fans here represent the general attitudes of all Patriots Nation, give or take 5%

When we analyze the behavior of our entire nation, we only use 75,000 households and it has proven to be incredibly accurate. Go ask Nielsen if you don't believe me.

This site represents the general attitudes & beliefs of all Patriots fans regarding our team. Of this I am sure.

Polls are done on a random basis, though. The variable here is that we have all chosen to come on this site, make an account, and post. If we had been randomly chosen from the population of Patriots fans as a whole, it'd be similar; instead, we ourselves chose to participate. And the likelihood is that only the most rabid (knowledgeable?) fans (for better or worse) would choose to give their time to participate in a forum like this, which makes it technically inaccurate to project the behavior of the population of Patriots fans. It'd be like taking a random sampling of scores of PGA players and using that to project the average score of every golfer in America, from casual to pro. I'm ridiculously tired, so that's the best example I can come up with.

Still, I do understand what you're saying, and I can agree to an extent. ;)

I have to disagree a little....

Most casual Pats fans don't come on this message board. They get their sports news from the local broadcast or from ESPN and when they were told that Belichick was a cheater, they bought that load of crap hook, line and sinker because they believe everything they see on TV.

The average Pats Fan who does not frequent this board now believes a lie.

People on this message board have computers, know how to use them, know how to write and are probably better educated than the "average" Pats fan. Because we frequent this board, many of us have realized how this whole story was way overblown. We know that the Patriots aren't "cheaters" they just did the same thing everyone else does in a way that broke a stupid rule.

The average Pats fan who frequents this board now knows the truth.

Thats a big difference.

Wow... douchiest avatar ever.

At least you won't be around here long.

Do I care? Nope. I'm hanging my banner, attaching the flag to the truck, ect today, same as always. It's game day. That's all I care about.

the issue is that "image", and i'm going to use a slightly different word, "perception" - the problem is, we all know that eventually perception becomes reality to people.

4:38AM out here on the other coast. I'm lacing up the running shoes for a five miler in the hills.

GAME DAY, BABY!!!!

Gotta get out my Brady shirt and all the other gear. Got some B and M beans waiting for the heat, and the beer is in the fridge.

Good luck, Pats....you've got support coast to coast. Rain on the Chargers parade and shortcircuit those bolts.

GO PATRIOTS!!

Seeing as most players, fans, and of course the media are basing their opinion of this situation ("The Patriots are Cheaters because they stole our signals!") I'm not the least bit concerned about the perception of the Patriots or its Fans.

I can do little about the ignorance of others and won't let it affect how I feel about myself or my team.

I love my Pats with a passion. Always have, always will. There is no contest in regards to whom I will watch tonight. The Pats of course! We have the best owner, the best coach and the best players. Jets fans hang on this board because they want what we have, and they know they'll never have it. That organization tried to break up the front office and disrupt the players. It'll never happen. I always root for the Pats, and now, whomever's playing against the Jets!

Go Pats!!!!
Go Ravens!

Damn I love football.

It only becomes THEIR reality. If someone thinks I'm an idiot and that is their reality, I couldn't give a rat's a**. Once again, people who worry about what other people think are not living by the saying, "to thyne own self be true".

You could say the same thing about the Cowboys of the 90's, SF in the 80's and the stealer fans all the time :bricks:

Fans of great teams are always viewed as arrogant, because they win

Like I said, I do polls and use demographic data for a living. If you want to debate me, you have that right. But the opinions here represent an excellent sampling of the average Pats fan. Fans who watch 2-3 games a year wouldn't even be considered in a poll. The first thing we'd do for a poll would be to establish what & who a pats fan is. People who watch everygame possible would be the starting point. Other "casual" fans, wouldn't count becuase they don't fall into the definition of what a fan is...derived from the word "fanatic"

You sir hit the nail on the head! Bingo!

If we are indeed seen as arrogant...Man do I love being arrogant!;)

Yeah.. I love being arrogant too :)
