NY Post: "Rumor" Kraft may "fire BB"

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

Driving a wedge between Mr. Kraft and BB, and generating enough bad press to eventually force BB's ouster, has been the Jet gameplan since Mangini assumed the reins. The Jets know they cannot beat the Pats as long as BB is running the ship, and the Moss robbery was the last straw for them and the rest of the league. Hence the constant rumormongering against him in NY rags over the last year and a half.
Call them rags if you want to, but they work to help the Jets, and work against the Pats. The media in Boston, on the other hand, can never be too severe in its critcism of the Pats.

If the situation were reversed, if Mangini had used videotape, both the Boston and NY press would be united is claiming it was BB's fault.

Just because he dosen't cater to non football questions. Ask him anything about football, he'll answer it. If he dosen't want too, move on, don't get frustrated because you'll never what he's up too !!

Keep in mind, they know they have fans and that the media is just a side show.

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

If BB is driven out by the stinking media whores in this town, I will be one pissed off fan.

I am not saying local media need to be total homers at all, but it sure seems to me they are in some sort of perverse competition to see which one can sling the most mud on the Patriots as a team and in particular, Brady, BB & Kraft.

The really mean spirited ones such s Borges and Felger, whose end game is only about ratings have really become agitating haters. I just do not listed or read them at all anymore and I am sure I am not alone. There is simply no need to treat these people as cruelly as they do.

The national newspapers, websites and Sirius radio is much more informative than these idiots.

Driving a wedge between Mr. Kraft and BB, and generating enough bad press to eventually force BB's ouster, has been the Jet gameplan since Mangini took power. If Robert goes along with it he's the biggest sucker in the league. A franchise gets a coach like BB once in its existence. To cut him loose because competitors whip up a phony frenzy is the height of folly. I don't outright dismiss this rumor. When a wealthy man accustomed to uniform praise feels publicly embarrassed, his reaction can be unpredictable. Still, nothing in R. Kraft's history suggests he is prone to a strategic error of this magnitude. He ate the humble pie the commissioner handed him in that written statement, but I have to hope that behind the scenes the wheels of retribution are turning, and weapons are being deployed against the real villains who conspired against his good name. The best weapon of all is victory on the football field, and the best man to deliver that victory is Bill Belichick.

word up! great points...im w/ you

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

I don't blame NY for wanting BB, wouldn't you....

...and done

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

If BB leaves if won't be beacuse Kraft fired him...he'll leave because of all the BS the press is giving him.

Why would Kraft say in his statement that he is looking forward to working with BB in the future and then turn around and fire him. To me, his statement says it all..BB fu@#ed up but they're moving on.

He is going to get BS from the press no matter if he coaches in the NFL or for a flag football team.... Where do you think the press would be any easier on him? Arizona? Detroit?

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

Kraft fire BB? HA i wouldn't sleep over it!

I agree.

What are you all getting worked up over? Kraft will not fire BB. Forgitabatit!

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

If BB would not be our coach next year god forbid, my short list is, Gruden,Dean Pees, Charlie Weis, Nick Saban, Pat Hill, AL groh, that's about all I could think of at this time.

All of whom are guilty of the same thing most fans and members of the press seem to decry as "cheating" too.

Let's hypothetically play out this rumor and assume it happens.

Where is Kraft supposed to find a replacement coach with NFL, CFL, USFL, High School, or Midget Football who hasn't stolen opposing team's signals before?

LOL, Kraft didn't get where he is by playing nice. People think he has no clue how the organization operates. And they're wrong.

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

Since this is a rumor thread, I will start one of my own. Conventional wisdom has BB signed for this year and one more. What if the Patriots let him sign with the Giants in exchange for the Giants 08 #1 pick, the Giants 09 #1 and a 2010 2nd rounder.

The Giants are terrible, good chance the pick is around #10.

If he leaves might as well get something for him and send him out of the conference.

And while he are at it trade Seymour to Atlanta for two #1 picks. They should be picking #1,2 or 3. Take McFadden with the pick.

Ok, back to reality. Go Pats

I suppose we could always bring Petey back...:woohoo::woohoo:

[runs and hides]

a rumour like that in this period is absolutely 'normal' imho: what we can expect from the media ?

this rumour means absolutely anything in this moment : zero

we will see what will happens when the normality will return

let's start to play week.2

Take all the money Bob Kraft is putting into the Foxboro venue and all the paper appreciation he's seen in the team's value and combine it with all the money he owes the banks, and I think a rational observer concludes that a departure of Bill Belichick from Foxboro in the immediate future (certainly not before Tom Brady rides off either to another team or into the sunset) was not in the cards.

So, after the dust settles and hurt feelings and bruised egos have a chance to heal, I doubt very much that Kraft would "fire" Belichick.

Whether Belichick will decide that he wants a fresh start for, say, ten mil somewhere else is something that we can't divine and is itself a secret that Belichick probably doesn't even tell himself.

As for where he goes, do you really think Belichick would want to share a media market and a new stadium facility with Eric Mangini? I don't and so I don't see him going to the Giants. It would, of course, be delicious for Belichick if the Jets fired Mangini and hired him, but that's not gonna happen.

If I had to bet on where Belichick would end up, my money would be first on the Redskins and Dan Snyder, who would write a ten mil check and who will be looking for someone with Star Power to replace Gibbs. Belichick's entire career has been east of the Missisippi, so I don't see him heeding the siren song of California, unless, maybe, someone gave him full control over a Los Angeles franchise...

I can't believe it, my wife just walked in the room and asked " Is Kraft going to fire Bill over this, she just read something that said he was "

I just looked at her and said the source was the NY Post, she looked confused and said " People are picking that up ??, a story about the Pats from the NY Post " I told her yes, that they are. Kinda like you picking up all the stories that the Pats are cheaters when they more guilty of breaking a rule. Then I kicked her out of my room(jokingly, lovingly), she's a Steelers fan. We got in a huge argument about Hines Ward when I called him a crying wimpy candya$$ wednesday. That last for 45 minutes and seems we're revisiting it every 24 hours.

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

It's probably best to refer to statement Bob Kraft issued on the matter two nights ago. This is a paraphrase and not a direct quote, but he specifically states that he's looking forward to working with BB in the future. The question then becomes why he'd note something obvious in this statement. Seems to me that he had anticipated such rumors and has already nipped the bud. Said this, you're also free to speculate nonetheless.

The dozen or so subsequent threads all speculating whether BB would resign or be fired were totally unnecessary.

Re: ny Post "rumor" Kraft may "fire BB

Haha the NY Post is as reliable as the National Enquirer. Diver eaten by Loch Ness Monster!
