Ironically, Mangina and Goddell are spitting mirror image of themselves. Both trying to bring the hammer down to "establish" their own turf as the lead dog. Screw the everyone else

What is even more ironic, both of them have boxed themselves into a corner where there is no getting out of.

Mangina can no longer use any excuses to keep losing to Pats. He's got a QB who is injured made of glass and nothing behind him, a LT who is a complete bust, in a division that will be dominated by Pats for 5 more years. Basically, if he can't perform by 2008, his 3 yr reign will be over, then he can panhandle in Manhattan. He is fired coach walking. The man will not be able to look BB or any coach in the eye. Imagine his own players and coaches.......how'd you like to have a leader who is a snitch, rat, and will sell you down the river and embarass you(Pete Kendall)

Goddell has in 1 yr made a mockery of the position of Commisoner of NFL. The owners were stupid enough to elect this moron who thinks he is the moral police from rules to personal lives. He has no clue how to interface with the NFL player of today, and his reign will be of total chaos. He is screwed on the Vick issue, and quickly alientaing the players and now coaches by penalizing infractions with unheard of harshness. So, it's better to cheat on cap by $30mill since we'll only lose 3rd pick. Have a sideline video camera, and you lose 1st rounder

I have the utmost respect for Tagliabue now. How he managed to integrate the post 87 strike NFL thru FA era goes to show you the man was a trailblazer. In some small way he helped manage save the Patriots franchise to pass ownership onto Kraft from the chaos odf late 80's and early 90's.

Regardless, as the winds of change were blowing thru NFL, and the roller coaster ride Tagliabue had to deal with from moving/expansion etc, I have more respect for the man what he was able to accomplish to make NFL the economic juggernaut it is today.

Unfortunately, with this new Fuhrer, I think NFL will be taking 5 steps back.

I mean, seriously, I know we're fans, but we need to let it go and have some sense that there is personal responsibility. Yes, things could have broken differently. But that doesn't change the most significant underlying fact.

Many, many of posters here believe that it's OK to break the rules as long as you don't cheat (whatever that means; there is rule against "cheating") and as long as you are willing to pay the price (as long that isn't too much), and oh yeah as long everyone else is given the same penalty in the future.

He brought the hammer down with Albert Haynesworth for 500k and 5 game suspension as hist 1st ACT when NO other player before had been suspended for more than 2. I am not condoning with Haynesworth did, but what it means then is what BB did is at the same level as Haynesworth ?

I dont think anyone has ever said it's ok to break the rules if you arent cheating... People like myself are sick of people accusing us of cheating, and the overblown crap that has come of this all. I and everyone else understands we broke a rule, we should pay (we dont all agree on the decision of said penalty but thats another issue). We paid, now lets move on. The rule we broke was not one of monumental significance. As others have said its more along the lines of going 70 in a 65mph zone.

I like that he is doing that. The fact of the matter is a lot of players have gotten out of control. People used to complain under Tagliabue that someone who violates the drug policy gets four games suspension and someone who beats his wife gets a fine. Goodell is asking players to take personal responsibilty for their actions. I kinda like that.
