The fact that it was Mangini and the fact that it was a New York team (although they play in NJ) seems to be a big deal of why this was severally dealt with and Goodell who resides and rules in New York probably was pressured to be stern about the punishment.
If this was a small market team without major tons of supporters and fan base such as Jacksonville and Carolina would this have been blown out of proportion like it has?
I think the New York media frenzy had a part in burying Belichick before the casket was even lowered into the ground.
It may seem crazy to some but if this were a small market team like the teams mentioned above or others like Seattle,Green Bay to name a few we would not be hearing as much about it and probably the punishment may have been less even though it was just a higher publicized team it was against.
