Maybe you blame Belichick for being stupid and doing something that was not necessary and costing the team a future pick,Maybe you are disguisted for what the media has portrayed the Patriots as cheaters and with these descriptions above and for which I can understand the disgust but what I do not comprehend is the fact that people are jumping ship and do not want to be a fan of this team anymore because of this mess.

Do you not realize the players are not responsible for the actions taken by the coach?

They just went out and did what the play design called for, they were not the signal call stealers nor did they design the plays nor did they suggest we use a camera to gain any advantage,Thier talent as players in unison is what took this team to win these games for the past several years-not the cameragate stuff.

Before you jump ship, remember these players deserve more from you as a fan, they are the innocent hard working players that give you the joy of watching this team succeed.

Is Brady,Seymour,Moss,Maroney deserving of your disgust or abandonment? - I say no - they did no wrong IMO

If you still think the Patriots are now scum and are leaving Patriots nation and our fine talented innocent players behind you then you are not worthy of being in Patriot Nation to begin with - get the hell out and don't look back.

Good riddance to them, if they won't even stand by their coach and team in the middle of a conspiracy to defame them. Let them go, they had no loyalty to begin with, the prerequisite of a real "fan".

Not sure I follow your point, Ray.

I really don't understand.

My loyalty is to the New England patriots and to the family that has kept them here. Why would you choose to have loyalty to a coach instead of to the players? Perhaps I am wrong, but we all think differently. But this is Brady's team. It is Bruschi's team. It is the players team much more than ANY coach. I've learned not to become attached to players or coaches. But given the choice, it is always the players. And just BTW, absolute loyalty without question to a coach who has just been fined $500K by the league needs to be re-assessed.

Why can't you have loyalty to the coach AND the players? You are the one making that distinction. I'm not.

I am not pleased by what Bill did. But I am a Pats fan. I am not a fair weather Pats fan. I am not a "the Pats (or BB)) are always right" fan.

What do I mean by "fan"?

I mean that I root for a bunch of guys who I have sort of gotten to know over the years, and for the new ones who join them. I root for them because I have a glimmering, anyhow, of what they want to accomplish, how hard it is, and how hard they try. The group includes BB.

I have set myself up to take pleasure in their victories and to suffer when they lose--not because I have any real role in either, but because for no good reason I enjoy thinking of myself as part of the community.

I recognize that despite the instinct we all have to idolize our team and its coaches, they are only human beings. They make mistakes, and I am dismayed by these mistakes, but they do not cancel out their virtues.

Two of the people on our team I most admire--Bill and Rodney--have both made serious mistakes and have taken serious hits to their reputations. I still admire them, both of them. Neither is quite as perfect as I'd like them to be, but then neither am I.

I shall continue to root for them because I admire them, because I understand--to the extent that I can--why they made the mistakes they did, because I know the pain they must be suffering (these are extremely proud men and they have much to be proud of).

What I hope they will do, and what I confidently expect them to do, is to go out and do their very best, to be professional, to play like champions and to set an example of how good people react to self-inflicted adversity. Because I believe they are good people.

Those who wish can turn away from them, but I, for one, am uncomfortable with that kind of sanctimony and the people who display it.

Now we have the Chargers coming in on Sunday night. I think it's a wonderful opportunity to show them that last year's victory was not a fluke. I expect great things.

Not too worry. No REAL Patriots fans are "jumping ship". why would they? When you're a fan, your a fan of the TEAM...they guys that play on the field. And we all know, these guys were not involved in the cameragate crap...they play football, they don't shine shoes & they don't cut checks...they play football.

I challenge ANYONE who claims they are a true fan and is jumping ship to explain why. I'll get no responses from feeble characters...my money is on it.

The real chumps here are the ones who feel their own image amongst fellow fans has been "tarnished". Look, lets get this damn straight, NOTHING HAS BEEN TARNISHED..PERIOD, END OF STORY! And the fan's image is irrelevant and only phonies worry about that stuff.

Give it time and you'll see how much of this has been going on. And the sad part is, once it has, no one will apologize to Patriots fans or Patriots players! That's why these guys need us now more than every and my money says they'll get more support than ever.

If you hear someone booing at the game wearing Patriots attire, tell them to sit down & shut up cause they'll be cheering again come playoff time!

I agree totally with that sentiment....For Pats fans like myself who have moved out of New England to places like Cleveland, Ohio, this has been especially difficult....we see first-hand the jealousy that our winning three Super Bowls in four years has brought....Every yahoo fan with Godawful teams like the Cleveland Browns is saying crap like "See....the Patriots only won their Super Bowls because they cheated"....when we all know that it was hard work and superlative talent from players like Brady, Bruschi, Harrison, Vinatieri, et all, that won for us...Sorry, not buying their line of crap!
Let's stand together through this....and watch with pride as our Pats stick it up all of these yahoos' asses and win Super Bowl XLII in February!!!!

Amen to that! It's all gonna come out in the media anyway...all the spying that goes on. You can be sure those idiot investigative reporters will act as if this is covert operations and dig deep into archived video.

Very, very well-said, Mainefan!!! You appear to have all of this in proper perspective!!

While we Pats fans are a more than a little bit dismayed....I'll even allow embarrassed....by this whole matter, there's no way that I or anyone else in true Pats Nation who has felt the pure joy that winning that first Super Bowl against the Rams on 2/3/02 could reallly turn our backs on this team. Let's face it...they have been so very enjoyable to watch for these past six years, since Tom Brady took over for Drew Bledsoe...and even in the Bledsoe years.

I believe that I speak for the overwhelming majority of us true Pats fans in saying that this whole very regrettable matter could never, ever wipe away the joy that watching Adam Vinatieri's perfect, Super-Bowl-winning kick against the Rams and many other great moments have brought us! We have been very, very fortunate to be fans of such a great team as the New England Patriots!

I believe you are absolutely right about us being the overwhelming majority.
