BB press conf today

Apparently not many people here know how the media work. These are the questions that most non-Pats fans want answered. I'd really like to know how long he did this and if it gave him any type of advantage. If he said we started doing this week because Ernie wasn't around to catch teh signals and then said it actually hurt us more than helped us because Ernie is the best at what he does. I would have been pleased, so would many of us.

Belichick has left himself and all of his team's accomplishments up to the scrutiny of everyone else in the league and the media. Why is the media going to take it easy on him? If he were a good person and treated the media with some respect instead of treating them like dirt, it would have shown in that press conference. I've seen people face more serious scandals and get treated nicer, but that is only because that person was good to the media.

That being said, I really am looking forward to getting all this crap past us. Sunday can't come soon enough.

Who would ask such an inane question as is the fine payed in installments?

BB has authorized his bank to deliver the fine in PENNIES to the NFL HQ and office of Roger "Burn in" GodDamnHell.

Count your pennies now

What a load of crap. When the media asks knowledgable, insightful questions about FOOTBALL BB becomes a damn teacher, he gives them GREAT answers. Unfortunately they want the juicy dirt and he will NEVER give them that. How is that not treating the poor media fairly????

BB apologized to the fans in his statement.

Good enough for me!

I was a journalist for 8 years. Not a lifetime, admittedly, but long enough to know that time spent asking questions you know will not be answered is time wasted.

media is so stupid. if coach BB says were moving onto San Diego..is it that hard to understand? you think your going to change his mind and make him speak on the past subject? once BB makes up his mind..thats it. if he wont talk about the video..then he ISNT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE VIDEO/SPYING INCIDENT

It has been clear to me, ever since Ted Williams really, that most of the Boston Sports Media hate Boston teams. This might sound counterintuitive to rational non-Boston minds, but if you read their rants over the years, it becomes quite obvious. And even writers such as Jackie McMullan who were once seemingly fair, become infected with this sanctimonious venom over time till they are indistinguishable from the McDonoughs and Borgeses and Shaughnessys.

you are right...they hate all Boston Sports, no doubt in my mind. They thought they had BB cornered in this press conf, but he basically stuck to his guns and said a big FU

And in your 8 years, didn't you also learn that you still have to ask them? So if you assume that someone isn't going to say something, you just forget about asking the question all together. Because that two seconds it takes to ask the question could be better spent ... um, scratching your head. A regular Cronkite you must have been.

When a public figure is in a tight spot, and you get a chance to interview them to get their side of things, you have to ask certain questions, even if the answer will surely be "No Comment," which in the eyes of many people is essentially a sign of culpability. At this point, Belly does not have the case is still under investigation defense. He said he would talk more about the case when it was resolved. It's resolved, but instead of taking questions, Belly puts out a prepared statement, which either he or someone else wrote, sent it to the presss in the dead of night when he could not be reached for comment, and the next time he faces the cameras, reporters are just supposed to forget about everything.

I admit that installment question seemed kind of like piling on, but you don't know what type of article/column that reporter was working on, maybe it was essential for his/her story. It might have been a pro-Belichick piece.

I'd be annoyed by his attitude too if I wasn't aware that its exactly the correct way to go about beating the Chargers. I'd also be annoyed if I was a reporter who wanted a long weekend. If BB throws some bombs the stories write themselves; but since no bombs were thrown, the mediots have to work as hard as he does. Boo Hoo.

I applaud how he held himself in check, without going on a tirade!
If I were in BB's place, I surely would have walked down the podium and punched Tomase to pulp!!!

"Do you get to pay a half-million dollars in installments or do you have to pay it up front?"

Some real ***holes in the media. I'm glad Belichick held his ground.

That is true, as an interviewee, I think he did a stellar job. He knew the national media would be at the presser, but he stuck to his guns and didn't budge. He got the day done, now the easy part. The Chargers.

That is just an awesome read. I love Belichick.

someone who wants to get under his skin, irk him and provoke him into saying something he doesn't want to say.

or, more consisely known as "A f*cking douchebag"

Completely agree. Not sure why people would think the media wouldn't ask tough questions? They are not going to go easy on him, that's not their job.

whats annoying is these media members assume they are carrying the torch for the fans by asking questions like this

Bingo. Just like the idiots at the NY Times, when releasing information that will get our troops killed, saying that the "people" have a right to know.

This is like a "everything wrong with journalism" extravaganza.

There's a difference between tough questions and ones that are purely designed to impugn or prejudge.

I didn't think they were designed to impugn or prejudge.

Just heard a parody of the BB PC on WEEI's big show open.

Reporter:
BB, how are you going to pay the large fine imposed on you?

BB:
Strait cash homey!

They replay it when they come back on the air every hour, so if you want to hear it listen at 3,4, and 5 to WEEI
