That I've picked up from Sportscenter:

-BB is making $4.2M this season.

-The Patriots voted down defensive radio last year. All the other teams who did had coaches with defensive backgrounds as well.

I can see the reason for voting this down. The problem is that teams like the Pats use lots of substitutions during the game for various reasons. On offense, the QB will be in 100% of the time unless a backup comes in so there is always one QB. If AD gets a headset but isn't in for a series, who else should have one? Jr? Well, what if Jr and AD are in because Tedy needs a break, etc, etc, etc. The combinations create problems. I think it will be a cluster ****.

When I did some research on the vote, one of the most valid points against was the problem with substitution/injury that happens all too frequently in the defense, to make one designated player with a headset feasible. This seems to be the main point that caused the 10 negative votes.

Yeah it just doesn't make sense when you actually look at the logistics. Who has the radio helmet? Is there more than one? What if he's subbed out?

Um... no, peg. Three teams voted no, not ten. I don't know what the other two teams reasons were, but it's obvious why Belichick voted how he did.

BB was asked this yesterday
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/

There was a vote in March to have radios like the quarterbacks have in the helmet of one defensive player. The vote fell a couple votes shy. Would you be in favor of something like that?
"There are pros and cons to everything like that. It was a pretty close vote. There are plusses and minuses."

What would be some of the drawbacks defensively?
"You don't know who's going to be on the field. How many are you going to have? It's a lot easier with the quarterback position. Every team has a quarterback. It's a lot different on defense. It's not necessarily one guy."

24 votes are needed to pass a resolution. 22 were YES. if 3 teams voted no then it means for every resolution we are looking for a unanimous vote which makes no sense.

Actually, it is very feasible that the impetus for NE's vote was just what they said, that it is a lot harder to do than it is for offense. I think it is a stretch to say that the filming was the reason for the vote, considering that all teams try to steal signs.
