I've really had it with the league. Nothing but a bunch jealous, pathetic whiners. No real cheating occurred, and certainly NOTHING unethical was done, and for Goodell to call what the Patriots did a violation of a "long-standing rule" is a JOKE when it was just instated recently. Everyone else admits they do it, Dan Reeves, Mike Shanahan, everybody in the NFL admits it or refuses to deny it, and nothing happens. The Broncos commit a MUCH more serious infraction, cheating on the salary cap, to give that hypocrite Terrell Davis and horse-face Elway more money than they would otherwise be allowed to pay, and they get a 3rd round pick taken away. The Pats do something that anyone with a brain says can't realistically affect competitive balance in any meaningful way, that was only prohibited in a memo recently and which is allowed in every form but on a video camera, and they get nailed for a first round pick? What is that? That's like saying Shawne Merriman got 4 game for steroids injected with a needle, but if he had swallowed them, it would be okay. It's pure bullcrap, nothing more than a vendetta against the Pats by jealous losers, and I've had enough of it. Vindication is going to come when the Pats crush the rest of the league anyway and win the Superbowl. And to you trolls out there thinking of replying to this, go to hell.

I was puzzled about the "longstanding rule" thing as well. Is this really a longstanding rule? The video camera stuff?

Not even close, but apparently a few weeks constitutes longstanding. It sure as heck wasn't in the 2006 rulebook.
