When you are loooaaaaaddeeeddd!!! We are not only loaded talent wise, but financially as a franchise. My first reaction was to be pissed. Then I realized we are likely only giving up the 32nd pick in the draft. As another poster pointed out the Jets used a #4 overall for a mediocre LT. We got Moss for a 4th and Stallworth and A.D as FA's. Kraft has tons of cash and is willing to spend so in closing all the hypocrites and especially Goddell can kiss my A**.

so are trolls

Sure, but how is this going to effect free agents in the upcoming seasons?

I don't know, hopefully it will not.

I think if anything it will help. In the nfl the Pats have a holier than now perception. This incident shows the organization to be comprised of mere mortals. I say it helps within the culture of the nfl player.

go sit in the corner and worry

Why? I love the pats and BB, why are you saying that to me, because I wonder if free agents will want to come here?

It's been a long week, tensions are high with all of us, but come on.

why would a free agent not come here because of what happened?that makes no sense at all .

No, they aren't.[/QUOTE]

Then why were we so willing to trade out of this years draft in lieu of free agency. We have cash galore. Especially #1's are overrated as you have to pay big for them. A package of Lower draft choices would have hurt much more as they come on the cheap, We will simply buy a 2008 #1.....

bethel johnson, cedric cobbs, oldenburg, hairston, hilliard, rogers, elgin, dexter ried, guss scott, chad jackson, spencer nead, dave marriott, nugent, you still think they are not?ther are more just cant think of them now, get the point?

Don't know, but if your coach brain washed you into believe YOU lost a BIG game because of some CHEATERS, maybe you decide that you never want to go there.

THAT IS NOT MY OPINION, but rather taking my rose colored Pats classes off for two seconds.

None of those were 1st rounders.
Patriots haven't missed on a 1st in a long time.
Glad we still have one and both 3rds (thought we might lose one),
but this is no slap on the wrist.

If draft piicks are so valuable why do we consistantly trade them for future picks? Chad Jackson was nearly a first rounder as was Watson. At pick #32 or so its not that difficult to replace. Do you think you could replace Chad Jackson's current value in the free agent market?

Actually, we just lost a first round pick so the players you listed above are poor examples. Listing Meriweather, Maroney, Mankins, Wilfork, Watson, Warren, Graham and Seymour would be a better example considering that all were first round picks. In all fairness though, the first round pick we just lost is our own so it would have been somewhere in the 25-32 range. Still, given the track record of BB and Pioli in the first round, I think it's reasonable to assume that this player would have contributed from day 1 and would eventually become a starter signed to a rookie 5 or 6 year deal at a salary that would become a basement bargain price by his third year.

Yeah and if this player turns out to be any good by year 3 or 4 they are unhappy with their so called bargain deal and hold out. At that salary I say again no big deal to replace in FA ala Graham. Would you trade Moss straight up for Branch? Do you think Chad is a bargain?

well dont think sf will be very good this year....we can trade down for 2 1sts.

Do you think Wilfork's a bargain? Is he holding out?
Did you think Warren was a bargain last year? Did he hold out?
Do you think Mankins is a bargain? Is he holding out?
Do you think Watson is a bargain? Is he holding out?

And Chad Jackson's a second rounder. We lost a first round draft pick.

Draft picks are not as valuable as they used to be because of free agency.

The value of draft picks is that they lower the cost of the overall payroll.

This is why the Colts are able to pay huge salaries to their star players.

This year all 9 of their draft chouces are still with the team.

Wow, are we letting 8 year olds who know nothing on the board now?

They were willing to trade out because they got a 2008 1st rounder in return. It didn't just disappear.

And they don;t need to buy a 2008 #1 because... wait for it... that's what they got for the 1st rounder they traded last year.

Christ, this is basic logic and knowledge. Do you really need it explained to you?

*edit* while we're at it, you can't just buy picks. You trade multiple lower picks (which you think is more valuable) or top players. There isn't a "1st round draft pick store" where money gets you a pick
