Peter King was just on HBOs Inside The NFL and says the Patriots are very likely to get heavily punished for this scandal and says if Vick. ,Jones and the others who were severely punished for doing something OFF the field and as an individual then imagine what Goodell will do if its an ON-field violation as a whole team and one that has the possibility of having affected opposing teams across the league.

Peter King goes on to say it will be a high end pick the Patriots will lose which he estimates as their 2nd rounder and a 1-3 game suspension of Belichick may be likely along with other sanctions.

I think Goodell may very well take away our San Francisco aquired pick and maybe a round 3 pick and a very large fine but I just don't see him suspending Bill unless the other allegation of tapping some conversation of the Jets is also penalized.

Peter King is one of the best NFL media guys in the business,I respect his opinions and he is probably right on some things,Hopefully not so on a suspension

I agree that this is Goodell's likely punishment: a 2nd rd pick, a substantial fine, and a 2 game suspension. If he does that it will be a disastrous decision. Over a petty incident of gamesmanship he will unjustifiably call into question years of honest accomplishments. This is what the envious jackals across the league want. If Goodell does this, I will root for a strike and the destruction of the league in 2 years. What he should do is penalize the Jets for leaking League Office information to the media, give the Pats a slap on the wrist and issue a stern warning to the league about future violations. But he doesn't strike me as the type to see the forest from the trees.

What kills me about this is that a man was involved in a Federal investigation, killed dogs for sport, and GAMBLED on it (Pete Rose anyone??), yet it seemingly has been forgotten. Nevermind the fire-fight that Jones seemingly insinuated, or instigated, or what have you.

This is absurd on the borderline of insanity. If RG takes away a Day-1 pick ... I would expect a heavy public backlash.

as much as i'd like to see goodell go gansta on NE, i think he's just going to slap them on the wrist.

I saw the piece and I thought Peter King said it was unlikely Belichick would be suspended. He said it would most likely be a second rounder and a second day pick. In fact he said suspending Belichick would probably have little adverse affect on the Pats since they have 21 coaches and they are all well versed in what the Pats are doing.

I agree that this is Goodell likely punishment: a 2nd rd pick, a substantial fine, and a 2 game suspension. If he does that it will be a disasrtous decision. Just to repeat: If BB is in any way sanctioned by Goodell, I will be openly rooting for a strike and the destruction of small market teams at the next CBA.
and if it wasn't the pats, and let's say the colts, you'd be all for throwing the book at them

pretty much the same exact hypocrisy going on that you claimed with charger fans over merriman

You don't know anything about me or my other opinions. I happen to be a fan of Merriman and his dance. So save your "hypocrisy" claims for the mirror.

This is kind of where I'm at right now. Frankly, Kraft should explore any and all litigation possible whenever the penalty is handed down. File suit against the league, and everyone else he can think of. He has the money to do it. Make them earn their petty rewards.

What we're seeing now is open season by the jackals (well put ,Pony), and it's only going to continue. Hines Ward's ridiculous comments, Strahan, bogus sack record and all chiming in, LT's comments (which now seem mild just 24 hours later), even Drew Brees had some choice words. That thing on Drew's face also commented negatively on BB through a spokesman. Pete Prisco and that other a-hole Pats hater Clark Judge just chimed in on cbssportsline.

I say bring that **** on. I stand by BB and I stand by this franchise.

As for King, I didn't see his comments but if he in any way equated this with the illegal killing of animals while also gambling on it by an exposed thug and sociopath like Vick, well then he's even more of an asshat than first thought.

sure i do, typical fan who calls out other players and teams but not his own, especially the key members of his organization.

it's like clockwork

I think King is probably going to be right. It is going to be a second rounder and a second day pick. That is the most likely way to punish the Pats competitively. Suspending Belichick for two games will not have that much of an effect.

Everyone is expecting the Pats to reap the whirlwind about this issue b/c of his dealing with players, but this is a different issue. Basically Goodell made those decisions to protect the integrity of the game with the conduct of its players. You seriously think Goodell is protecting the integrity of the game by bringing fire and brimstone on the Pats? This will go beyond the Pats and destroy his sport.

Cracking down on "cheating" is a slippery slope for the NFL. They have rules against certain types of cheating but they don't rule against ANY AND ALL types of cheating. This would be a quagmire for the league. Seriously, how many coaches/players have admitted to acquiring signals through some method or another?

I think Goodell simply fines the Pats for keeping an unauthorized video camera on the field and that's it. No draft picks taken, no suspensions, no "cheating" uncovered. If we get this scenario the NFL and the Pats will save face. The NFL can't simply "orphan" one of its teams, especially a marquee team that has done something the league is totally aware that other teams do.

If the wording of the policy is vague and cause for discrepency as BB suggests then I don't see how punishing the Pats in any way is just. Whoever OK'd the policy should be fired instead.

BB could literally kill an old lady on the field at halftime and alot of NE fans will stand by him, that's just how it goes most of the time

if there is jackals jumping on the bandwagon, BB filled it up with gas and hired the driver

It would depend on who the old lady was.

If it's a first or second round pick I'll be devastated I don't see how throwing rocks at the throne is gonna fix what BB interpreted a loophole in the rule book.
BB is smarter then every coach in the league I feel safe saying that and if BB used cameras it's because he thought he could do it.
That high of a pick is ridiculous when the Broncos cheated the cap a very competitive disadvantage to all the other teams playing fair and only got slapped on the wrist with a 3rd rounder.

Us losing a first or second after essentially letting Assante walk after this season could be devastating especially with Moss, Stallworth, Washington all on 1 year contracts.

And unfortunately this is going to put a dagger in the legacy of Bill Belichick in many peoples eyes which is not right IMO but is unavoidable unless by some miracle BB is exonerated.

The damage caused by this is truly overwhelming and not something light hearted like some of the homies believe will just fade away soon -This is a SERIOUS issue involving the whole league IMO

There is absolutely no doubt Bill has a dagger in his back and no one to help pull it out right now - its very sad because hes one hell of a coach.

mmmm...but now we have a dictator as commish so he won't take it easy on us with a 3rd rounder.

I don't think it will be a first round pick. Here's why. What happens if a crappy team gets caught doing something like this? I'm not even going to say cheating. Because, it's gamesmanship. It's legal to steal signs. Just not to videotape it? WTF?? You can tape coaches from anywhere. How many teams have a camera somewhere in their stadium doing this? I would venture to say we aren't the only ones. Say, Oakland or Detroit. They could lose a top-5 pick. Some teams better be careful what they ask for.

It pains me say this, but given the "hole in our draft swing" I'm not sure taking away a 2nd does that much damage.

No other team will it happen to because of 2 things - A crappy team nobody cares to even watch closely over for cheating-and the second reason - That the much hated Bill Belichick is NOT the coach of the crappy team so there will be no scrutinizing.
