Chargers' loss this Sunday will be the beginning of their decline this year

I like our chances this sunday, but everything I have read coming out of the Chargers this week is that they are still pissed about last years playoff game. I don't think this is going to be an easy game for us at all.

If there is one thing I have learned watching the NFL since the 70's, its this: You are not as good or as bad as you are on opening day.

In other words, we should throw out last weeks game as an indicator of how good we are, as should the Jets (being blown out).

Thank you.

There is at least one Pats fan who at least acknowledges this will be a tough game.

I honestly dont know who will win but do feel the Chargers have just as good as a chance to win this game as the Patriots. And yes, they are EXTREMELY motivated for this game.

For all the Pat fans who act like you will blow out the Chargers I only say I just havent seen evidence of that. You won the playoff game sure, but if you cant admit that you got out of a game because of experience and timely breaks than you are not honest. The Charger dominated that game for 50 minutes but made stupid mistakes. I have never seen Brady look worse than he did in that game. He got away with one for sure.

All I hear about is Randy Moss. LT will get far more touches in this game than Moss and the Patriots have NEVER proven they can stop him. His stats against NE are fantastic.

You are in for a hell of a fight. Count on it.

The Patriots are going to win this game by more than a TD. Book it. This one they play their asses off, a fire under them, FOR Belichick. It's a shame Rodney cheated too - I'd love to see him in this game. It's gotta kill him not to be there. Idiot.
***** hole.

I would love to see us win. It will be a tough game for both teams...you guys have a better offense your squaring off against this time around.

let's see.... lose on the road against a very good Patriots team and fall to 1-1 then throw in the towel on the entire season:rolleyes:

I am proud of the fact the my hommer glasses can come off when need be. I think the fact that its at your place and after all that is going on you guys will come out pumped. I say you win by a FG honestly is going to be a tough game for both teams. About all this you will win by 10 points or more let me just say this, this chargers team the last 3 years have only lost 1 game by more then 5 points. At the end I see the home field advantage being the diffrence. Good luck and lets have a good game.

P.S. All this talk about last year is getting old on both sides. You guys won fair and square I was there I saw the game you got it congrats at the end of the day we both watched the Colts in the Super Bowl.

if you guys think that your D is at the same level as Chicago
you are going to be in for a surprise.

the fact is this:

you have the better coach (and camera man)

we have the talent

The Pats beat the Bears last year. That means they have a *better* defense than the Bears. And their offense is slightly better than the Bears don't you think? The Bolts are beat up from a very physical game Sunday and have to travel to the East Coast to face an angry team fired up to prove to their critics that they are legit and to shut them up once and for all.

I like the Pats chances in this one.

Strange reasoning.

First of all the Patriots beat the bears 17-13, hardly a blow out

You think because the Patriots beat the Bears that means their defense is better? The Bears defense ranked ahead of the Patriots. The Ravens and Bears have had the best defenses in football of late.

The sound point you do make is that the Chargers have to travel after a very physical game.

Actually, the Patriots were just behind the Ravens, and the Bears behind the Patriots. This is in Points Scored, the only defensive stat that matters.

It's actually better.

And sure, SD had more talent last year. This year? The Patriots are much better. The SD WR are as bad as the Pats WR were last year. Gates and Tomlinson, with a mediocre, inexperienced, whiny QB. That's it.

vegas is giving you guys 3 1/2 points and you are at home.

you are not playing the jets

you are playing the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS !

Wrong. Field position matters too. How many short fields you had to defend, and how many short fields you handed your offense, are important modifiers to the gross points-allowed figured.

Nope. The bottom line is the points on the board. You can give up 500 yards on the ground and only 7 points, you're still better than the D that holds a team to 200 yards and 3 TD's.

The point of the game is to stop the other team from scoring, and score yourself...ya know? Or maybe you don't.

I dunno about the Chargers decline... but I hope that the Pats win a very good game. I'm sure that the Chargers will bring everything that they have, I'm sure that they have a big chip on their shoulder from last years playoff loss to us.

One of the major games all season no doubt about it.

I just scratch my head at this thread.

How are the Chargers declining? They are one of the youngest teams in the league.

How does beating the bears last year mean your defense is better than Bears?

You act like winning a hard fought battle with the Bears makes the Chargers weak some how.

FYI... The Bear D is far better than the Pats D. I would Take the Chargers or Bears D over the Pats any day. LT has just tore up the Pats in the past. Does that mean he'll do it again sunday night? No. But the odds are we'll be able to move the ball on you guys. Remember how our D made Mr. Brady look last year. Very mediocre.

Our recievers were very mediocre last year as well, so I wouldn't put too much stock in Brady having that type of performance again.

Perhaps you have a better word than decline for a team that went 14-2 in '06 to 11-5 this season. SD will not be one of the elite teams by the end of the year. They will be very good, somewhere between mediocre and elite. About 11-5 I think.

One word...COACHING.

You went from a very good regular season HC and staff to an awful, proven loser of a HC.

That's all it takes...hiring Norv was about a notch above hiring Rich Kotite.

Good luck Chargers. But, the immediate future does not look good.

Any Team with Norv turner for a coach has a bleak present and future. Just ask the Foreskins and Faiders:eek:
