"
The thinking in some circles is that the Competition Committee, which has endorsed the use of a radio receiver in the helmet of one defensive player, wants to use the Patriots' situation as the impetus for getting the additional two votes necessary to pass the rule."

If this is true then it stinks even more.

The real reason for cameragate

Per WEEI, the main reason the competition committee is so excited over this is they see it as a reason to get their agenda passed. Apparently they want more radio's in players helmets, but have not been able to get it done.....they are using cameragate to push it though

Did D & C stop their hysterical *********** ranting and raving long enough to say this, or was this something from yesterday??

Re: PFT: NFL sting operation against Pats?

Rumors also are swirling that Jets coach Eric Mangini, who was with the Pats through the 2005 season, began to spread the word to other teams in 2006 regarding the tactics that Bill Belichick employs. But even after a close call last year in Green Bay, the Patriots kept doing it.

That's what I can't figure out.

If those rumors are true, I think we now have some idea of why their relationship soured.

After hearing about all these rumors about Mangini ratting out Belichick, I think that Belichick got a lot of undue criticism for the way he handled relations with Mangini. I'm sure if Mangini was telling the world about the Pats' secrets, Belichick got wind of it. Why should he show respect for a guy who he basically made him what he is when he would stab him in the back.

The way Mangini handled the Pete Kendall situation makes me believe the guy is a weasle. Kendall may or may not have been right, but Mangini made a concerted effort to humiliate Kendall. I think Mangini is hiding behind the league's disdain of Belichick, but ultimately will be exposed as a slimbag over time.

So what's the Pats take on this? Which side are we on concerning these defensive radios? If we're in favor of this, the blatant taping of defensive signals would seem to be a way to force the league's hand, no?

Re: The real reason for cameragate

I'd like to know who were the two votes against the headsets in the defensive backs helmets?

There were more than two votes against. There were 22 votes for, and 10 votes against, they needed 24 votes to pass, so they were 2 votes short. Nevertheless, I am also interested in who voted against.

This is what I was saying in my post, "It was a plan"

I think that BB wants radios. I think it will get pushed through.
