The Players, I like to hear thier comments today, they busted there butt and have a super opening win, and this will be ongoing until it gets resolved... I think they have every right to be pissed...

This whole stupid camera angle is going to be around the whole year long, and what a great offseason we had will have a black eye on it throught the yr... All we will hear about is how we cheat, or if we lose , I guess you were not cheating.. Wont be able to win anyway... But the only thing that could save this is the players come out and say , we won on the field no matter what.. Still had to make the throws, still had to tackle, you think Ellis Hobbs neeeded a single to get 108 yrd kickoff return , Moss still beat 3 jet defenders, and Brady had to throw the ball... The players have to save face on this

if you think the players are losing any sleep over this, you are crazy.

There is still a very good chance that NOTHING comes of this other than media and fan hysteria.

Unless you think the reason the Bears lost the super bowl was because Urlacher violated a league policy by wearing the wrong hat to media day.

I had the same concern after reading Ellis Hobbs' comments yesterday. Now, I'm more inclined to think that the patriots will react more to the overreaction and use this as "energy" for the season. But, I do think there will be at least one animated team meeting sans coaches.

Well, the thoughts of the players has been in the forefront of my mind, as well.
I don't think Belichick can ever be looked at the same by the veteran group
who will have unfair questions put upon them regarding their legitimacy.
I also don't don't doubt some of the players knew exactly what was going on.
Some of those guys surely know they're not supposed to have an employee with a camera on the field, but there is that guy milling about with his camera, the same guy who got chased out of lambeau.
But Belichick runs the ship, and although he's not quite Captain Ahab or whoever, players are caught in the middle.

sorry, you guys lost me. why are the players mad again?

if anything, they are mad that the media is making an example of the patriots for violating a dumb "no-cameras" rule that doesn't even protect competitive balance.

we still don't even know if the pats will be penalized yet.

so...they players are mad because some fans and media folks are incorrectly flying off the handle?

sorry, don't see it.

Of course The Pats will be penalized.

Exactly, I have said this is another post. It's the players that are gonna be pissed. I don't know if this is the right word, but it demeans their effort and success. If I were them I would be pissed.

Absolutely...fans tend to react too much to media hype at every level. Michael Vick is going to revolutionize the QB position....The Pats are moving to St Louis...Al Gore has won Florida......

This should have the effect on the players of proving that they can win without any "cheating" edge. These are professionals and very prideful. They won't show up hanging their heads.

I look at that as a good thing.

iam sure the players will be ticked off a bit but as someone in another thread noted that the barber brothers said its quite common. So from that perspective they will understand its quite common and its the other teams and GM's who see an advantage in getting the pats punished are really pushing the issue more.
I have heard that other gm's and teams are angry at the pats as per schefter on nfl network. But iam interested to see what other players in other teams say today. If anyone should be angry it should be them -at the pats,at their own coaches for not changing their signals every game.

To be honest this is my biggest and only worry. The draft picks will hurt but then they only kept 2 on the team this year. Suspending BB would hurt but there are plenty of good coaches on the team and I think we all know that except for gameday BB would still be involved (cheating again). Then I remember all the crap after the Milloy release and Tedy B saying how "it's about the guys in this locker room, nobody else" so maybe it wouldn't matter at all.

But you're not them. These are guys who will do almost anything to gain an edge. Sometimes illegally. Bill has their back. They will have his. If anything this will galvanize the team. A few guys like Vrabel who have perhaps been a little quick to pontificate about others in the past, something Bill always warns them to avoid, may have some momentary angst. But then he'll remember Bill plucked him off the scrap heap in Pittsburgh before their team doc could inject him with any illegal substances to make him play better in their scheme, and brought him to a place where he is a core leader and local hero with 3 rings.

Believe me, it will be fine in the locker room.

LOL, what a pollyanna response. You think players don't know about the cheating already? They don't know about the drugs?

Please. Did you see how the Phins reacted to stealing our signs from a videotape last year? They were laughing and gloating. Please.

Unless you think the reason the Bears lost the super bowl was because Urlacher violated a league policy by wearing the wrong hat to media day.

Yes, wearing the wrong hat on Media Day and stealing signs with a video camera are both violations of league policy. But one is waaaaaay more serious (and can affect the outcome of the game) than the other.

By your logic, murder and jaywalking should have the same penalty since they are both in violation of the law.

But one is waaaaaay more serious (and can affect the outcome of the game) than the other.

with all do respect, I disagree. Stealing signals is NOT illegal. using videotape is. However after two days of trying I cannot get anybody to produce any account of how using videotape is more effective at stealing signals than any legal method. So, given what we know right now, nothing the patriots have done in anyway affects the outcome of the game anymore than any legal means of deciphering signals. therefore we have essentially violated a technicality. if you think our players are up in arms over a technicality that it hasn't even been officially determined we've violated yet, well, enjoy your angst.

I think you may have mis-understood, or I have not properly explained myself. I could not agree with you more that all will be more than fine in the lockerroom, and that if nothing else, will be a good thing.

I am saying the players may feel as if the outside world thinks they are not good enough to win on pure talent and hard work...in resorting to such tactics. This should pi$$ them off. They may not feel as if their efforts were legitimate. It would piss me off. If they should go out and stomp on SD Sunday then this could be seen as the first step in saying to the league that...well, we didn't cheat today and we kicked your *****.

if you think our players are up in arms over a technicality that it hasn't even been officially determined we've violated yet, well, enjoy your angst.

Funny, I don't feel anxious, nervous or insecure. The issue here isn't stealing signs. The issue is the guy with Pats credentials with a video camera in a place the league deemed inappropriate.

BB lost control in Cleveland when his players lost their faith in him.

Keep your fingers crossed.
