I think we have to prepare for the strong possibility Belichick walks away after the season.
Here's a guy who hates distractions, and he is the cause (imo) of the biggest distraction the team has ever faced.
Players will be fed stupid questions all year from both the ignorant and the biased.
Players' past achievements will wrongly be brought into question. Even Brady's legacy will be questioned.

I don't think we should hold our breath waiting for any explanation or apology from the coach for this "league matter".
I have never been a "in Bill we trust" guy. and I know there are those who will defend him no matter what...
I just happen to think us fans matter, and this scandal affects us, too, not just those within the organization.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out...

Hey Cubicle 6, before you drink the koolaid of the detractors, let me ask you a couple of questions:

What is the advantage of taping the Jets Defensive Signals by a Media Assistant? How does he transmit the information? Who interprets the information and how does that get back to the playing field to impact play on the field?

Couldn't a spotter in the Press Box be doing the same thing? Couldn't someone in the crowd or someplace else on the field actually be filming the game for a purpose of cheating?

The only thing we know is that there seems to be a rule violation, nothing more and nothing less.

I completely agree.
A trusted associate or 2 w/ binoculars, a good memory and a note pad would be the thing to do, if that's what you want to do.
Whether it's a quick look at a tape or a coach briefing th HC for a few minutes at halftime, that's what they could have done.

I happen to think the impact is minimal for this sort of spying, but that DOESN'T matter, unfortuantely, as we all know.
We've been branded as THE team that cheats, and I'm afraid nothing will change that, despite the belief everyone spies signals.

Exactly, NFL never used the word "cheating". We are charged with violation of rules, which if I remember correctly, all the 32 teams are accused of at some point. I can understand esteemed and educated people in ESPN making a mistake in this distinction, but can't understand how Pats fans can't understand this. It is simply a violation of rules. Draft pick/fine/knuckle rap!

Don't be stupid.....every victory, every championship, all the dominance is now bieng questioned by the haters of New England.

We have no answer for them...yet.

There has to be more to this.....please, let there be more.

the dynamic here that we will never know about is what is going on between Belichick and Kraft.

Does Kraft feel he was betrayed and embarassed?

Or, does he think of this as legitimate corporate espionage with which CEO's are all familiar?

Or, does he think that BB may have gone a little too far but it's no big deal?

We'll never know for sure, but if Belichick exits at the end of the season, we might get an idea.

Doesn't mean we condone what BB did...we certainly do not...but he is still our coach and the Pats are still our team. Man up and accept what punishment Goodell gives and move on. It is what it is. We fans can write off BB and the Pats..or we go on supporting them. Yeah I'm extremely dissapointed, but I'm still going to support my coach and my team.
Belive this: if BB ever left the Pats, those $%#@#$% teams and $#@#$% fans of those %$#$#@ teams calling for his head would be fighting to be first in line trying to hire him. BB is still the best coach in the NFL and we should be counting our blessings that he is coaching our team.

Are we better off with him or without him? I would not want to be seeing him in a cufoff sweatshirt with another teams logo. I believe BB is going to be a coach in the NFL next year and after and I would rather have him than any one else.

Absolutely.Iam not letting him off the hook if he is guilty of something but anyone who thinks he is a great coach because of only the stealing signals scandal isnt right. He is still the best.

Another seat on the bandwagon has just opened up. Better grab it fast because it will fill up again in a few weeks.

This event will produce quite the opposite effect. Belichick will stick around longer now because of this.

I follow BB's rule rigidly: one game at a time. So, no peering into the cloudy future about who goes or who comes.

Biggest concern: hope the players are not that torn about this as the fans are and are able to put away the distraction, pin up Mr. Tomilson's thoughts on the Pats since last year, and go get a sound W.

GO PATS!!

I agree, unless Kraft asks him to leave, I think this will drive him to want to win more to "prove" himself and secure his legacy. Then again maybe he just gets fed up with the hypocrisy of the NFL and walks away for a few years.

I think it's a valid opinion, you never know what catastrophic event it would take to end a run like this. However, I believe to the contrary - that Belichick will want to stay with the Patriots so he can b!tch slap the little girl called Mangina twice a year every year.

Your opinion has no basis in fact and is not worth a thread. Please refrain from starting new threads until you've had a bit more experience here.

Until at least the day he's fired...no, not BB - Mangenius....

Second worst mistake he made in his life was going to the JETS. Close third was signing on the coach an AFCE team. Numero uno - ratting out his mentor, kiss of death in NY and likely beyond. Hope he's banking those HC checks.

So, Belichick was violating a league rule he was reminded to not violate, which will cause the team to face serious penalties, and there's nothing Belichick gets from that, no advantage? It's like looking at gay porn at work when you're straight and don't even get aroused by straight porn. Does it make sense to you? Give Belichick some credit.

The coach's job is to put together a team that can compete for Championships...PERIOD! His job is NOT to be a good guy or try to be like by media and/or fans aka Pete Carroll.

Guess what? BB is the #1 coach of all time. This incident is very, very minor...or are you forgetting that every team does this type of thing and that last year, it was NOT against the rules.

My friend, you are embaressed for yourself and you should be ashamed of yourself. It's not like BB has multiple infractions, so go bury your head in the sand you sorry excuse of a Pats fan.

I've seen this alluded to, and I apologize if this was previously in this thread, but I didn't see it.

BB is not stupid. There are ways to do exactly what is accused without being caught. I can't remember who, but someone pointed out that those cameras dont' have to record anything, they can just pass it to the box like a live feed for upstairs... where it is recorded and or used and disseminated.

so..
a) Was this a brain-cramp?
b) Did he WANT to get caught?
c) Is there a strategic advantage to being labeled cheater?

By being caught, and then punished, does that allow BB to go on some sort of massive quest to topple the entire problem? ie Ratting out 31 other coaches, and exposing all the different tricks they use?

By being a labeled a cheater, does that mean folks will underestimate the talent and skill of the coaching staff?

Could it be purely a headgame? Making the Jets think they knew when they didn't?

It just seems to me that it's conceivable that BB had some motive bigger than stealing signs here. I feel like im' missing something when I read these stories.
