NFL Denies ESPN reports

We know this already. ESPN and the NFL Network both have said that the NFL (Aiello) says they have not made a determination. This reporter just played up that angle, possibly because the reporter does not have the league insiders that ESPN and the NFL Network has.

I guess those would be the same folks who assured them that Michael Vick would not be indicted.

If I were the commissioner I'd be more concerned with finding out who those league sources are and just what is in it for them every time they drop a dime on somebody in media and tell them what Goodell is thinking...

The way I look at it, if Bill was worth a first in 2000, he's worth a couple of more in 2008. After all, we banked quite a few from 2007. And it's not like we fill a quarter of the roster with them like some teams. Hell, we'd have just as likely traded them into 2009 anyway. :D

I'm not saying that ESPN's and NFL Network's sources are 100 percent correct, but I am saying is that the ProJo article is saying the exact same thing that the sports media giants have said, but it was written in a way that makes it seem like the Pats are in the clear.

Of course ESPN is wrong on occassion, look at the Eli Manning story just yesterday. But if you've seen the coverage on NFL Network and ESPN today, it appears like they have no doubt about it.

But this article denies that BB was summoned anywhere. It also asserts that the NFL hasn't determined anything in terms of guilt, which is quite a bit different from most of the stuff you read around here lately.

Most of the articles I have seen on the topic, including the ESPN article, says that the NFL spokesman has said nothing has been determined. ESPN and the NFL Network are reporting that their league sources have said that Goodell has determined they are guilty and the video backs it up. I'm saying ProJo led their story with my first sentence, possibly because they have not talked to these league sources that ESPN and the NFL Network has talked to.

I guess then those league sources are saying Goodell is a liar. ;)

How about this one

4:40 p.m.): League spokesman Greg Aiello just said that not only is Belichick not in New York now, he won’t be at all. “There will be no face-to-face meeting,” Aiello said. Left unsaid is whether the commissioner will speak to Belichick over the phone, but at the very least Belichick’s game preparation for the Chargers won’t be disturbed this week. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/patriots/?p=1579

I don't get it. This link http://www.projo.com/patriots/content/sp_fbn_pats12a_09-12-07_HE73CUP.354f5bf.html says "NFL security officials confiscated a video camera and tape from New England video assistant Matt Estrella during the game. Estrella was on the Patriots’ sidelines while he was taping New York’s signals."

But this picture shows the supposed cameraman on the Jets sideline.

Is the quote in the article just an example of poor reporting? Were those words from the NFL? Or am I just wrong in understanding it somehow?

That picture is just what someone pulled up thinking they had found the smoking gun, it proved nothing. There are other outlets there filming every part of the game that are allowed too. Its just official patriots personel are not allowed too.

Okay. So it's not the smoking camera and the guy actually was on the Patriots sideline? If so, why the need for hand signals?

This just proves that Mangina threw a hissy fit because his teamed got schooled. You notice it's just the Jets doing this? When they mention other teams, it's "sources," from certain teams.

Not one thing that I have read so far anywhere on this makes any sense, he was on the Jets sidelines.. now he is on the Pats sidelines.. as time goes on it seems that he was not cheating, not sure if this is about opportunity or intent.

But it still does not make sense for someone to be this obvious, doing what he was doing in light of the NFL warning. There was no transmission of the information, so that it could be processed. I keep hoping that there will all of a sudden be some type of revelation or explanation of what happened, and all the Pats will be guilty of is that they were illegally taping an NFL game for themselves.

Well, the camera got confiscated in the first quarter...before the game was a blowout. I don't think we can blame other teams for pointing the finger at us for breaking a rule that has been clearly stated and we were questioned for violating in the past. As BB would say, "It is what it is."

Here is what it comes down to: If we take down the Chargers this Sunday, all will be well in Patriot Nation. If we get shown up, all the headlines will probably read like this:
'They were distracted - cheating issue eating away at Patriot playes'
'Pats fail without camera edge'
'LT says 'they weren't cheating so they wasn't tryin'
'They hate their coach'
'PittPatriot found dead in garage while car still on'

So, all I care about is winning a HUGE game against a huge pain in the ass team. I'd love for Wilfork and Warren to play wishbone with LT's legs. And if we chop block Merriman on every play, it'll be well deserved.

ESPN will for obvious reasons be a main place of recieving news, but there is so much BS that comes out of ESPN that I honestly don't take them seriously anymore.

But if this scandal was coming out of Indy would it be headlines? I'd like to think that ESPN's favorite team would recieve the same attention but I highly doubt it.

That is exactly what I'm suspecting.

When all said and done, the Patriots will lose a draft choice(s). The trend of the new commish is a law in order guy and he will keep that in place with some kind of penalty against the Pats. Everything else is B.S. Yes, "In BB We Trust", still holds true. All these imposter's whining about BB's credibility can go back home now. Every post which cries dishonesty gets a glance to the subscriber post number, more often then not its a newbee. Sorry, if your timing sucks, but more likely your a troll. Get a life. Do you think your team doesn't "cheat". Why does every single offensive coordinator hold something in front of their mouth when giving a call. I hope everyone is distracted by all this news this week, I know one person, one team, that will not be.

Exactly. This was posted by a jackass 'fan' on this very site as "proof" that we were guilty, despite being discredited before it was even posted. It was then copied and broadcast across the web - making us guilty in many peoples minds (including the poster above).

As I said in that other thread - we have already been tried and convicted on the web and in the media. And helped along by some of our own idiot fans.

The reporting was fine. The jackass fan on this site who captured the pic got the wrong guy.
