If the Patriots have unfair advantages, wouldn't the Players know? Wouldn't it be sketchy if you are told they will be running to the left or they are blitzing this play? There are guys like Reche Caldwell who is no longer on the Pats and with another team now. Why isn't he telling anyone what was going on? There have been many times when Patriots and Jets players switched sides (ex. Hank Poteat). Why hadn't players mentioned anything when they no longer are on the Patriots. This is just so lame!

Stealing signs isn't considered cheating by the NFL.

So the fact that such things happen - apparently on teams other than the Patriots, isn't the issue. And even if it were, the players wouldn't necessarilly know why coaches were calling the plays they were.

In the Patriots case the only rule broken was the use of a recording device - stealing signs remains legal - and I doubt the players would know whether a recording device was used.

Seems logical, maybe they do. IF this is true, I assume that they've just taken this a step further, and might use it to assist in the next meeting. Hard to believe they could benefit instantly. Plus, who truely thinks they needed to do it? On the other hand, if you know your opponents move before they make it, you COULD make the other team look bad, like 38-14 bad. Interesting to see what the outcome is, my guess is in the long run, might make NE a more unified team than I assume they already are.

All teams watch signals, but they don't all videotape.
Ignorance by the masses will call into question all of our wins under Belichick.
It's a crappy thing we'll have to live with forever.
I still can't believe the level of stupidity to continue doing this after being warned, and against the Jets of all teams.
OF COURSE Mangini is gonna rat us out.

My big question is whether the Patriots can focus , and how much respect have they lost for Belichick for creating this distraction, and for having to defend their own legitimate accomplishments.

I don't think anyone's going to need to hang their head in shame over a simple rule violation. A lot of people think that stealing the signals is the crime and it invalidates a win or wins. They obviously don't realize that sign stealing is legal and that the leagues doesn't seem to even care.

They broke a rule - and will pay the price...

Being offsides and pass interference is another rule violation. Does anyone hang their head in shame about that when caught? Or worse yet when they are NOT caught and get away with it?

iam very interested to see what brady says tommorow. Iam sure a lot of players will be asked about their past championships and also sure they wont hold back by saying no comment etc.

But they broke a rule by recording it, just like the Dolphins did - and will pay the price...

All across the Country, writers will call all Patriots wins tainted under Belichick.
Yes, that's complete ignorance considering evry team has someone recording defensive signals, just not all on videotape.
BUT that's something the PLAYERS will have to face forever...questions about their legitimacy.
Of course it's ridiculous, but it's BS that the players will have these questions put upon them.
If I was a player, I would be very mad at Belichick.
He should have had a trusted one or 2 associates w/ binoculars studying the signals like every other team.

It's not illegal to visually observe signals and try and figure them out but when you videotape you gain an unfair advantage because it allows you to play the tape back for groups of people and all the coaches to watch together at their leisure at halftime to try and figure the other teams calls. There's a good reason videotaping signals is illegal and why it's cheating.
