I watch a great patriot win and go to sleep. I wake up the next day and i'm Goodfellas or Casino.

The feds are onto us and guys are getting wacked left and right and Mangina gets away in the Witness relocation program.


This whole thing feels so bad. If it's as true as it seems than BB might have to step down. I love BB but the orginazation is tarnished and Kraft cannot be happy.

The only way out of this is if an assisant coach or something was doing this behind BBs back trying to get an edge to keep his job. I'm reaching for any straw i can grab here.

You do realize that the so-called "cheating" of stealing signs isn't the issue. That's legal and all the teams do it... they just can't use a recording device.

I'm not sure what the reason is (maybe its that "expressed written permission of the NFL" language before each game?) but recording it is apparently the only rule the Patriots violated.

Odd that what you and I would consider "cheating" is not considered cheating by the NFL. So am I "heartbroken" that the Patriots would use a video camera rather than just have a guy with a cellphone and binoculars calling in their interpretations of the signs the way other teams do?

You can tell this guy or woman or both (in case they're from California!) is an imposter who just signed up and is trying to pretend to be a Pats fan. Well, a real Pats fan wouldn't say the crap you just wrote. Plus, we can smell the opposing stink on your breath!

Your post that you were "heartbroken" suggested that you thought stealing signs was the crime.

It's not. We're talking about another rule violation such as the case when the Dolphins were caught using audio recording devices.

I really doubt many Fin fans hearts were broken over that rule violation.

I'm not sure if you're a hocky fan, but would you be "heartbroken" if you learned that a member of the Bruins was bending his stick in excess of what the NHL allows? Holding the stick higher at the start of a slap shot?

Those are all rule violations as well.

They are certainly against the rules but I wouldn't necessarilly think that any fans are heartbroken over them.

I believe the players do work very hard to be the team that they are and earned their superbowls. Now whoever is behind this video work just disrespected all those players hard work and accomplihments.

It doesn't matter if sign stealing is done by everyone and it doesn't matter if we could have beat any team we played either way. What matters is that they did it and that does not sit well with me because i believe in patriot pride. So now whos the real PATS FAN?

Now bring me proof of othe teams doing this and i'll feel better but until then the pats are standing alone.

I think the NFL is going to have a lot to answer for when people figure out that stealing signs is LEGAL. So yes, I do think they are going to over-react.

But to be "heartbroken" over a rule violation? Seriously - you get hearbroken everytime a guy goes offsides and you are a football fan, let alone a Patriots fan who feels a need to tell us they are from Massachusetts and therefore not a troll?

actually I know downfall personally, not that I'm a long standing member here myself, but he IS from MA, he IS a longtime Patriots (and Bruins) fan. He and I sat in 94deg heat a month back just to watch the Pats run around a practice field for an hour, and he burned a vacation day from work to do it.

what he's trying to say is this: Someone's head is going to have to roll on this one. It doesn't matter if everyone steals signs, not everyone steals signs with a video camera....and not everyone steals signs with a video camera one flippin day after the new law and order commissioner sends out a memo saying "don't steal signs with a video camera". it doesn't matter if stealing signs is legal, no one will ever care about that fact. did you see that knob Schlereth on ESPN? he sat there spouting off like this was the worst thing ever and it needed to be stopped before it spread; even after schula and parcells laughed and basically said "yea everyone does that". the result? 50% of the online poll replies said forfeit the win. We're not dealing in reality we're dealing in perception, and the two are very different things. Goodall could come out tomorrow and say "there's nothing on the tape but gay midgit porn" and no one would listen, it would be a non-story, for every game as the season goes on they will talk about how the Patriots got caught cheating. what makes it worse is if they actually did it. the questions have already started: "did they do this during the SB runs? they sure did seem to know what the other team was about to do!". how do you think Bob Kraft is going to handle that?
